Yep, it all goes in one ear and out the other. If its not about food, sex, or video games they are incoherent

herm... if you hit him, he just might hit back. My DH isn't too thrilled when I ask him to watch our DS, but he knows better than to say no lol. I threatened divorce when he didn't have much to do with our son or me, and he COMPLETELY did a 360 on his attitude. It took a while, but when I got to the point where I would bring up what furniture would stay with him and what would go with me, that he would get 50% of the time with our son and that I was not going to fight him for our son and he could see him whenever he wanted to. And I would bring it all up all nonchalant, like you would any conversation. And that he could pay child support by just buying the items our son needs where the items added up to the amount of the child support payments so he knows I'm not using our sons money for stupid stuff. Needless to say he's turned into a really good husband and best of all he's turned into a great father once he realized he was 2 months away from loosing me <3 I don't ask for a break often, maybe once or twice a month, and that's usually to do house work or if DS is asleep and I need to run to the store real quick. But now he stays in the living room with us on a daily basis and has lots of one on one time with DS.

You really should not have to ask. When he is off work the childcare is no 50/50.

See a lot of people make that same mistake with their kids.....you phrased it as a question instead of a demand. It works best when you say it nonchalantly. I will get dinner and drinks all ready and then Ill say "ok ill be in my room for like an hour". Or I "run to the store real quick" which should take me less time since I'm alone...but it doesn't because I can actually wander around and compare prices and read nutritional facts and smurf.

Ugh i hate when my DH says, " just ask and you know i will do it"... Well damn if you see up to my neck in smurf to do you would think you would just want to try and help not wait for me to ask!

I swear I have this argument with mine EVERY smurfing day. I just want time to myself to take a hot shower, get the dishes done, cook some food. To have some "me time" even if it's not particularly how I want to spend it. He asks me "why?" or makes up an excuse every. time. I want to smack him constantly, but never do. But in my head.....
