Keep track of his weight. When my son teethes he eats less, sleeps a LOT and he gets really mean. He just got some of his back teeth in and he dropped quite a bit of weight. The only thing I could find that worked to help him eat, was giving him "Teething Tablets" thats actually the name of them. Orajel did NOT work for him and I worried about him getting too much of that in his system. But he would not take any of those rings and stuff that you freeze, and I bought every one of them that is available and tried so many different things that did not work for my child. I was not able to breast feed my son, so I kept track of his intake with a bottle. I was able to find a food he would take, *bananas cold and pear/apple sauce cold from the fridge. and I also found pedialite *not sure how to spell it. But I always keep a bottle of his fav flavor in the fridge to pour in his bottle/sippy cup. Some parents just have to fight with their kids to keep at least fluid in their system. And of course different doctors say different things, just call and ask your doctor the minimum of diapers your son goes through in a certain amount of days and when you should bring him in, in case he needs an IV to get fluid in his system.

Fair warning when your son starts getting his back teeth in, and if he's at the age where he is crawling/walking around, he might chew on furniture and ALL his toys. My son started chewing our wood furniture *side tables, entertainment center...etc, his wooden toys, toy blocks, books, ...etc. and was chewing chunks of wood off of them. I had to take away all his wooden toys, books, and I covered the ends of our wood furniture so he would not choke or get splinters in his mouth. *I took one of those water noodles that has a hole through the middle of it, sliced it down the side and slipped it over the ends of the table and entertainment center, secured it with duct tape and covered the noddle with duct tape so he would not chew chunks of the noodle off and choke on that either. I love the new decorative duct tape they have now :-P it don't look too tacky. but it keeps my child safe.

So far my LO hasn't cut any teeth   This is all new to me. He has days where his teeth are really bothering him, and other days you wouldn't know he's teething. I sometimes use a bit of orajel, but that's only when he's SUPER fussy, because, like yourself, I don't want to get too much of that in his system. We can't give him a bottle, because when SO tried while I was at work, LO didn't see it as a source of food...it became a chew toy   So I don't know how else I'm supposed to feed him...I know he is eating though, because he'll nurse for a few minutes, several times a day and he takes big gulps...but instead of being on the boob for 15 minutes, he'll push me away after 5 (approximate -- I don't watch the clock, so I don't know how long he's nursing for) Wouldn't his urine turn yellow if he were getting low on fluids to the point of needing IV? I just hope he snaps out of it and we can go back to normal...poor guy makes me so sad

my son just got 2 teeth is these last 2 weeks and he is ebf and there were days he wouldnt eat. It was usually when he would be really fussy and was hurting. I gave him 2 of the Hylands teething tablets about 5 minutes before i fed him and it seemed to help him. Also he can get ear aches when teething so sometimes the only thing that would help was a little bit of tylenol...hope this helps

Damn, now I wish I bought those teething tablets when I had the chance too -- instead, I bought baby orajel. Sometimes it seems to help him, but other times it doesn't. I didn't even think to try Tylenol...might have to do that if he continues to not eat. Little bean scared the crap out of me today. I put a fresh clean diaper on him at 10pm, then this morning around 10, I changed him and there was hardly any pee in it!   But then 4 hours later, the next diaper was sopping....so I don't know what's going on with him

Try giving him tylenol then feeding him about 5 mins later and see if that helps
