That is very sad

But honestly if I were going to do that I would do the same thing

It's very sad. She never opens it on her birthday because it usually depresses her for a good few days after she reads it. She tends to wait until a couple weeks after her birthday.

I actually did write Dawn a letter but not for that reason. I just wanted to write a letter to her while she was a baby about how much I love her and what a wonderful blessing she was and I put it in her baby book. I even added what she was doing while I was writing it. Sitting on daddy's lap talking baby gibberish.

Maybe some of your favourite memories. Things they do that make you happy and smile?

I'm so sorry you are so scared, I'm sure it's terrifying! I've only been put under once for a wisdom tooth removal but I had such a hard time waking up I can understand why you are so scared to do it again. I think I'd probably do letters and videos, just whenever the feeling hit me and I thought of something I wanted to say. Just advise for the future, praising something they did that day or something you love about them. In a worst case scenario there's no way you could have too many of those things to leave behind.

But just keep your thoughts positive, I'm sure you'll be just fine and those letters/videos will be good keepsakes to pass on anyways.

I wouldn't even make them like that! Keep them more in the moment maybe or of a hopeful future for them you know? Like if one of them brings home a picture they drew for you make a video about that, something they could watch anytime they wanted to just see you. I would do videos that would keep you close to them too, not just to say goodbye.

Yeah, I'm pretty terrified. I've never been so nervous before my other ones. IDK why this one is different.

Thank you for all the ideas. I like the whole "not just to say goodbye" thing and talking to them about the here and now and what they're doing, what they enjoy kind of thing. I don't want to depress them, I just want them to know I love them.

I think that's why I'm so scared: the last time I had surgery I had a hard time waking up. I had to be put on O2, and then got a bad fever after. Was in the hospital a few days after a routine gallbladder/ appendix removal.

I know   and it breaks my heart for you. I'll keep you in my thoughts (I don't want to offend you by saying prayers too)

That's completely understandable! With mine I just have vague memories of them shaking me and telling me I have to wake up, then I was walking with two nurses carrying me telling me I needed to come around and stay awake. It was scary though, not being able to control that and no way of knowing IF you could stay awake. Your fear is perfectly understandable. Can you talk with the anesthesiologist before hand? Express your fears and see if they can try something different?

The thought of surgery has always scared me. I hope everything goes well with you

Yeah. The anesthesiologist always comes in before the surgery to talk about it. So does my doctor. Luckily my doctor is very liberal with giving versed right beforehand so I know I'm not going to go into a panic attack right beforehand at least.

Thank you. It doesn't offend me if I"m in someone's prayers. Prayers don't hurt anything
