Rarely because the food has to be prepared daily and not stored overnight because that produces bacteria. It's actually a religious diet. There are a few rules I break. Sometimes I eat after dark and every once in awhile I drink alcohol.

I was a vegan for about 8 years combined (and a vegetarian before that), my advice is to make sure you get a good variety and don't eat a lot of processed vegan foods/tofu. I had a bad reaction to the soy after a while and I'd recommend almond milk instead of soy milk.

It's best to look through the various things people cut out of their lives and decide what you feel you want to remove and what works best for you and your family. People put too much on labels.

Try learning how to cook with some meat replacements people use like tofu, tempeh, tvp, etc. learning to cook with these things on your own will save you a lot of money and you not have to deal with the hassle of reading labels.

I am personally a fan of the vegan cookbooks veganomicon and vegan with a vengeance. .

You also don't have to have soy or soy products. I've been soy free since soon after I became vegan 5 years ago. I didn't like what too much soy did to my estrogen levels, so I cut that smurf out.
