Breast feeding and introducing bottles

For those moms who breastfeed and pump/bottle feed as well, how did you do it?

My daughter is only 4 days old and strictly nursing but I did try pumping for the first time yesterday and got 3 oz total but I don't think my milk actually came in until today because my boobs are very engorged between feedings.

So when did you start pumping? How often?
And when did you introduce the bottle for the first time and how often/when do you use a bottle?
What bottles did you use?

I pumped between feedings if I was engorged cause it hurt so bad. After that I pumped after feedings for 10 minutes. I used the bottles nicu gave me so I'm not a lot of help there cause she stopped taking them all together at one month.

Now that your milk has come in you should pump as much as you can. As for bottles we bought the cheapest little gerber bottles that come in different colors..Those work fine no need for fancy bottles. DS was drinking from a bottle since day one, never had nipple confusion. All kids are different, though.

I started at 4 weeks. And use similac and evenflo bottles. My pump broke so I'm manually expressing milk when they get engorged. It takes a little time and patience to get them to take a bottle. If she has a hard time try moving the nipple up and down in her mouth to get her to start the sucking reflex that's how I got my LO on it.

I started pumping at about 2 weeks. I had my husband introduce the bottle because he wouldn't take it from me...he still will fuss a bit if I try, but he'll take it now. Oh and we use Tommee Tippie bottles and he doesn't get confused.
