Warm up in hot water a small amount of BM. Then add it to the oatmeal. It doesn't need to be warm to feed it to the baby.

you are going to use such a tiny little bit of milk that the micro wont matter

On that note, I gave cereal to my son with 'just squeezed juice' so his was already warm eliminating the micro wave

Hmm I don't know but I never heated up the cereal when DD was a baby.

Cereal is honestly empty calories... A breastmilk fed baby can do fine with just breastmilk alone for the first year. If you want to introduce solids, go straight to jarred or homemade baby food.

So would it be best then to just use fresh pumped milk? Isn't that the ideal temp to feed LO anyway? I'm so confused and overwhelmed   My baby's growing up too fast...lol

Yes best to just do that. Tell me all about growing up, my oldest is going to be 6 in 2 months.

I did rice cereal for 3 days just to shut everyone up. Lol. Since then I have cooked everything DS has eaten. But when I did the rice, I literally took a boob out and sprayed it right into the bowl with the powder. lol... DH laughed at me, but it worked, it was quick, and the food was at the right temp.

That's what I told SO, but he said we NEED to start giving LO solids now, otherwise his iron level is going to drop. I tried telling him that he'll be fine, but he won't budge....so it's either the cereal with iron, or meat. Meat scares me at this age...so, cereal it is!

Rice is much gentler of their stomach. I would use that first, if any.

Just make sure you know, the more solids you feed him right now, the hungrier he is going to be. It expands the stomach. So be prepared for him to start wanting to nurse longer because he won't be full like he used to. lol.

after 6 months of age the iron stores in baby from the womb start to deplete. Iron fortified baby cereal is a great way to keep iron up until solids start.
