Quoting kthx.:" I'd cry if my rent/mortgage was $1k   The house I posted is only $130k."

I rent an apartment. 3 bedroom, 2 bath. 1700 a month. Sigh, haha. You almost can't touch property here for less then 200k to buy, at least if it's in an okay area.

Sure, if you want to live in Fontana, or Ontario, or crappy areas like that you can get cheaper, but not anywhere nice.

It makes me sooooo jealous when I look at house prices from other states. I watch house hunters and want to cry, haha.

Some places it isn't a requirement. But it can be a good idea. We have never purchased renters insurance either.

We pay $690 for a 2bed, 2 bath. But that includes water, and internet/cable. We only have to pay electric.

Seriously. It's nuts! Whenever I complain though my husband sets me straight. I'll say "Look, we could afford like a MANSION in Kentucky." Then he says "Yes, but then you'd have to live in Kentucky."

He's right. As much as I hate house prices here, I do love living here. I guess it's worth the trade off.
