calming someone else's baby?!

posted 3rd Dec
My brother in law has a son that is 4 months old, and I am watching him until his mother gets off of work (3 hours from now). For the past 45 minutes, the baby has been SCREAMING and I cant figure out what is wrong with him. I tried a bottle, didnt work. I tried rocking him, didnt work. I tried giving him gas drops, didnt work. I tried taking him outside, didnt work. Finally, I loaded up the stroller and walked with him outside until he passed out. I got him moved into my living room, but im worried about calming him down if he is like this when he wakes up. I have a 5 month old son of my own, plus an 18 month old, so i only have so many hands. Oh, ive also tried babywearing him, and that doesnt work either.

My daughter likes to be up like looking over my shoulder so she can see things. Thats what i do when she gets a little fussy. Or if shes fussy i change her diaper...for some reason as soon as i start undressing her she stops being fussy lol

dang see my son was like that but he just wanted to be held. kinda hard to do that w your own LO and an 18mth old

does he just want to be "babied" like held 24/7 or something? do his parents always hold him?

I'm not sure if they hold him all the time or not. He is their first, so if they are anything like I was its a high possibility. I knew he was tired, so carrying him around didn't work. I just hope he gets a good nap in and is the happy baby I always see haha it makes me feel bad though that 20 minute after he got here he just screamed and screamed  ((

it might be that hes just not used to you you know like my son cried and cried even when held bc he wanted mommy even at age 3 now he refuses to stay w anyone.

good luck hope he doesnt cry. i think its either he misses mommy or hes uber spoiled and is held 24/7 maybe a blanket w mommy scent miight work

Yea could be because he isnt use to you. I just left my baby with my BIL the other day so DH and I could go on a date, and he said she cried atleast 60% of the time. Which she normally isnt like that at all. Plus the new people who watch other babies, like you how you havnt watched him before..you just may not know exactly what he likes done to be comforted. Its hard when its not your baby so you cant tell. Maybe next time ask them what he likes done when hes upset.
