Hernia question.

My daughter has had a noticeable hernia for a couple months now and her pediatrician is referring her to a pediatric surgeon on the 21st to see what he/she thinks needs to be done. It has definitely gotten bigger, but not by much and she now picks at it all the time so I don't know if it's bothering her or she just noticed it and is curious...

The bump is 1-2 inches directly above her belly button and she is 15 months old.

Anyways... I was wondering if any of you had to deal with this before? Will she most likely need surgery? How is the surgery done? How long is recovery time and all that good stuff? Hate having to wait weeks to find these things out..I'm a worrier!
