everyone is entitled to their own opinion.. it's my belief. my mother gave me my father's last name, and they broke up when i was 6 months old. the farther's blood will always run through your baby, so it's not a mistake choosing the father's last name.

i think the more immature thing is not choosing the fathers last name cause he doesn't want to get married asap.

I was saying you reminded me of myself...and what happened to me for not being more cautious and proactive with certain things...

You could alway give hte baby both last names..or your last name could be the middle name

I wasnt married when K was born and she had my maiden name (which was my last name at the time). It wasnt until after we were married that she got his last name. I think it is perfectly fine to give baby your last name until you are married. Getting it changed after you are married is an easy process.

My son has my maiden name, thank god. because his daddy never even ended up in the picture. hasn't even met him. Now I am married w. baby #2 on way, and hubby (who treats him as his own) is going to adopt my son so that he can have our last name as well. Its up to you what you do. and if he gets upset and doesn't come around just because of a last name, then let it be his problem. in the long run, being a parent is way more important than a last name.

i think the smart thing to do is give your child your last name...easier to change it if you get married...

my SIL bf had his mothers last name when he was born and his dad had to adopt him when they got married so he could have his dads last name...he always jokes to people saying he was adopted...its actually quite humorous the way he tells it
