she needs to either stick around or stay gone. Coming in and out of his life like that will not be good for him.

I am glad, though, that she's leaving him in a safe place and that she recognizes that she can't be the mother that he needs.

Cow town?

Maybe it is what is best for her son, some people just shouldn't have kids and they might be better off with other family members. She might be doing it for the wrong reasons but at least she is putting him/her in good hands (well hopefully she is). Oh and OP, I dont think age has to do with it. I've seen a variety of mothers with different ages/race/cultures be just straight up worthless.

Her mom has cancer. and is very sick but the girl does not care
