Picking a doctor

After the first doctor telling me my baby passed, the second doctor telling me the baby was viable and all the issues up to this point I want to go to a different doctor /hospital/town.

I live smack between three towns within 60 miles of each other. I have a choice of 5 hospitals. The best being about 30 minutes north, and where I delivered my son. The only problem is the doctor that told me I had lost the pregnancy delivers there. As well as the doctor I used to go to(a large group of doctors that pass you around... they missed a lot from being shuffled around). But those are the only Doctors that serve that hospital.

There are two more within 10 miles of that hospital neither of which Ive gone too and havent heard good things about.

The one that is 5 miles from me has a HUGE c section (for no reason) rate. A lot of women here I know like to electively get their c sections...  

The last one is 30 miles South, The doctor of choice is full for June/July (the receptionist said he only takes 20 patients due per month) The next doctor is a hippy and I havent heard good thing, and I dont know anything about the 3rd dr.

I guess I'm having problems leaving the best hospital in the area (and they have an excellent NICU) The one 30 miles south is good, and Ive heard good things.

Idk I guess what would you do? Go the best one? Go to the alright one?

I would choose the doctor you get along best with and have the best relationship with. If you're comfortable with your doctor and trust them it doesn't matter what hospital you are at.

Are you anywhere near Vancouver Washington? I had the best birth at peace health southwest. It's right over the bridge from Portland.

No, I'm in Eastern Oregon about 3 hours from Portland.

Darn it! I would go to the hospital with the best nicu. I actually ended up picking mine based on the doctor I thought looked the nicest online. I ended up in a hospital that had a private nicu so I got to stay with DD for the week she was there. Are the doctors you don't like in a practice where whoever is on call that night delivers? Mine was like that and the delivery doctors were completely different from the practice doctors. It sounds weird but it was wonderful!

The large group of doctors rotate being on call. So it works that they are on call 3 days out of the month. And not all in one group. So one day here one day there one day on the other end. Ive been seen by all the doctors there. And a few of them I really like. But there are several I dont (the doctor that delivered my son for example...) Which is why I switched to the other practice. It only had one doctor and he only took so many people a month that were due so he could attend all the births. But after screwing up my ultra sound and scheduling me a D&C I dont have a lot of trust. All be it, they did end up finding the heart beat (after i bitched) I just don't trust them now..

I wouldn't trust that doctor! If the rotating practice has a lot of doctors you don't like then I wouldn't do that either. Have you tried looking into a midwife that is certified to deliver at a hospital? They usually have a doctor they are associated with that shows up if you need one to during deliver.
