ideas on potty training.. im about to give up!

posted 3rd Dec
my son is almost 3! and still in diapers. He will be 3 in april. He understands what "pee pee" and "boo boo" is. He's becoming independent wanting to put on his own clothes. and talks well. but everytime i put him on the toilet he doesnt go. but soon as he's off couple minutes laster he ends up going in his diaper. some days i have him with underwear on and he will just pee through those as well. but im out of ideas i dont know what to do. He sometimes be dry all night and in the morning I would get up and put him on the toilet it takes him a long time to pee. but he will never tell me when he has to go. he will tell me when he already done it.

I would start by getting him a little potty and put it out in the living room or wherever he is. DD wasn't trained until after 3.

He obviously isn't ready yet. Just let it go for now. He wont be in diapers forever.

My son didn't train until after 3. You just have to wait until they are ready. I just continued to take him whenever we thought he might have to go. One day he just picked it up. It's not just a matter of knowing when you have to go but also being able to control those muscles to hold it in.

We did naked potty training. Stay home and let him go naked and my son pretty much potty trains himself. After that it took about 3 weeks and he was fully trained and using the big potty at home and out of the house

Once DD turned 3 it took us one day to potty train her.

Sounds like your son just isn't ready. Give him time he's not even 3 yet.

What made the biggese difference in my son is that we went camping and he was able to pee outside. He loved standing up to do it....we had always had him sitting down. You could try a little step stool in front on the toilet and put a couple of cheerios in the toilet for him to aim at. Make it fun and teach him to actually hit the toilet lol..

We did potty training boot camp. Diapers went away and underwear came out for good. Never again are you to put a diaper or pull-up on the child again when you start this. So plan for at least 3 days at home.

In 10 days he was COMPLETELY potty trained & going pee by himself (poop he needed help to wipe & would call us) Even night trained.

He was 2 years 3 months when we did that. He is now 3.5 (4 in april) and wipes by himself :-)
