gender toys

Would it be inappropriate / wierd to buy my DS dress up toys for Christmas? He LOVES running around the house in my heels, plays with my hair stuff (clips, bows, etc), and anything round is a bracelet. He got a rubber bracelet at the fair last year and walked around the rest of the day with his hand in the air so it wouldn't fall off! lol.

Just buy him some cowboy, superhero stuff? I don't think it's weird, but I'd probably opt for boy dress up stuff.

no.

If he's interested in it, then obviously he likes it/would play with it!

Boys can dress up too. Pretend is a HUGE part of a child's early development.

i don't see why it would be inappropriate. kids don't see gender, they see what they like. go ahead and get it, grown ups have made gender roles taboo and that makes kids feel weird about what they like, let him have the freedom to choose what he likes.

I personally wouldn't go and buy my son princess pink dress up clothes.
But superhero and boyish type dress up clothes/bracelets are fine.

i'm a full supporter in letting a child play with what he/she wants. whether a boy wants to play with barbies or a girl wants to play with trucks, let them! it's what they find to be entertaining

you can also buy some cowboy stuff and other boy things as well just so he has that option, he might take interest in it

I agree that you should give him options. He may be wearing your stuff because that is what he has available. Buy a big variety and he can choose if he wants to dress up as a princess, cowboy, super hero, or dinosaur. It is too bad you didn't load up on Halloween costumes after Halloween this year.
