How many toys for christmas?

posted 3rd Dec
POLL: that total does not include stocking stuffers unless they're over $10. Per child.

I'm afraid that DH will be mad at me for getting LO too many Christmas presents, lol. I got him 5 gifts ranging from $10 to $50 and then 3 movies (we barely have ANY kids movies and these were all on sale under $6) and a few stocking stuffers. I feel like I got a lot but when I think about it, I don't really think it's way too much. I spent under $200, so that's good, right? lol. I'm just not a great shpper and when I get in that mode I just get a lot of stuff. I think all in all, I spent about $800 to $1000 between black friday and cyber monday. But that's all our christmas shopping, we're totally done with it. (that total includes a 37" LCD TV, my christmas gift, for our bedroom)

That's sounds like a good amount, actually. We are doing zero for Christmas, but we bought one toy, a dress, candy, and dried fruits for DD for Diwali last month. Spent a total of $100, including her Diwali outfit.

I bought him some new PJ's for his stocking, lol. He hates getting clothes and just throws them to the side, I think it's adorable to watch though, lol.

I dont think the number of gifts really matters. Someone could buy 15 gifts but only of spent $300 and someone else could of bought 1 gift which cost $500. If you were count all my oldests stuff she probably has 30+ things to open. Total cost $700ish I think. My youngest got $200 in new clothes but she needed them now she is only 10 months so its not like she knows the difference. On xmas she will probably 5 or 6 things to actually open. Her cost around $400.

My daughter only ever gets one toy per year.

She gets three gifts - something to wear, something to play with and something to learn from.

I never spend a lot on Christmas. I just don't ever want them to think that, that is what Christmas is about and I don't want them to expect a certain amount every year, because who knows what my financial state will be next year. This year is actually more than last.

My stuff is on Layway at K-Mart now but for my 2 daughters (5 and 6) I spent 300$ on clothes and toys total for both.

Yeah, it makes me feel better that I was able to get so much for under $200. I don't really set myself a limit, but it seems to be about $200 each year, so I just go with it. I got him all things I think he will love too. I hate to spend money on toys that he wo't like just because it was a good deal.

I just can't help myself . We really try not to spoil him, but I just LOVE getting him things that I know he will love. It just makes me so happy to see him learning to play with new toys and just really enjoying himself. Like, I want to give him presents now....I don't want to wait, even though he still doesn't really know what's going on, lol.

Makes sense. There arent a lot of "toys" this year. Her big gift is a leappad2 with some games then everything is disney princess dresses for dress up with the accessories and some plates, bowls, silverware, and cups to match.

I know but I just don't allow myself to go overboard. Plus after what DH and I get them and other fam/friends it turns out to be a TON of stuff.

I spent maybe $150 on both kids combined. They'll have 4-5 toys from us to open on Christmas. I actually went to a thrift store and bought some.
I don't want my kids to learn to expect tons on Christmas and become greedy. I want them to learn to give as well.

This year we started packing boxes of toys and such for kids in need for Christmas. I'd rather spend more money on that then buy my kids things that they will play with for a short time and then get it lost in the pile of toys they already have.
