nose and throat

posted 3rd Dec
Ok I know a stuffy nose is rather normal in pregnancy... but what about sore, swollen feeling throat? It feels like my tonsil area is swollen and being poked with a knife every time I swallow. It gets worse at night. I ask my doctor if I could take Tylenol sinus and she said the only Tylenol I can take is the normal Tylenol... but I can take dayquil, which does NOTHING for me. If anything makes the congestion worse. and she said I can use non-alcohol robutussin that's the nondrowsy formula... so the sore throat, is that normal in pregnancy? I didn't have any of the sinus stuff with my son... but this baby has had me sick practically since I got pregnant.

As long as it isn't an Infextion like strep then u should be fine. If u get a fever go to the dr right away.

I went into the ER for these symptoms I woke up crying like a child at 11pm at night, it ended up being a really bad virus. I took tylenol ate ice cream, and sucked on pepper mints. It took 3 weeks to go away. I'm dealing with sinus congestion and a cough. I swear I have a sinus infection. pepper mints btw are awesome. For some reason L&D told me not to use cough drops. :/

I've been having the same thing happen I've even spit up a little blood from the dry throat  I looked for more natural remedies and I purchased some saline for my nose and the numbing throat spray so far its been working great. Mine is extremely dry so I use both every time I get up to go to the bathroom at night. Hope this helps

Some cough drops have the same alcohol that cough syrup has, so they don't recommend pregnant women use them. But I will try what Jennifer suggests. And yes pepper mints are awesome.
