Bacterial Vaginosis tips

posted 3rd Dec
Anyone have bacterial vaginosis more than they should? Any home remedies to help keep it at bay, just finished my antibiotics for the 3rd time this year for it. Generally I get it after I scuba dive, but this flare up was out of nowhere.

It's when the bad bacteria overgrow the good in your vagina. There are both kinds found naturally in there, but sometimes for different or unknown reasons the bad kind overgrow. It's the infection that is the "fishy smell".

Well, yogurt is a catch 22, any yogurt that has too much sugar can cause BV also haha

It might be an imbalance of your good bacteria. I think they sell kits at the drug store that can detect your vaginal ph. I know when the pH is unhealthy, bad bacteria can flourish and lead to repeated UTI and vaginal infections. This is something you should really talk to you doctor about though. There could be an underlying cause to related BV infections, or it could be that it's not BV at all. I know my PID symptoms were nearly identical to my BV and yeast infection symptoms.

I've been tested for everything. Just saw her last week. She said there isn't anything they can do, some women get it more than others.

Ohhhhh I gotcha!! But I agree with someone else. Yogurt sounds about right to balance it out

Hmm. Try playing around with your diet. I know there are foods that are good at balancing your pH. If there isn't anything medical going on, then it might be something "natural" that's off balance.

I found this...

use apple cider vinegar. To use it effectively, all you have to do is put one to two cups of it into your bath water and soak in it for twenty minutes. The vinegar helps fight off the toxins that causes BV.

use tea tree oil. It has an antibacterial effect that's good at helping fight off the bacteria that causes BV. To use tea tree oil, put a few drops in your bath water or rub some of it around your vaginal area.

Probiotics may help, but I don't know enough about it. I just know that some doctors suggest probiotics to their patients while they're on antibiotics mainly because the antibiotics will kill of the good bacteria too.

Try douching with a 50/50 mix of water & peroxide. Do it for a week or until the symtoms disappear and you should see a difference.

I had it and I think I have it again. They said it will just keep coming back. idk no pain or anything but I swear I smell. I told my ob about it and she was not worried about and didn't even tell me to start up the rx again. I think I will ask her again this week.

I found something at CVS called VHessentials. It worked really good for me a month ago and it went away, but after my period last month, it's back. I have been doing a ton of research. I went to a natural foods store and bought Florajen Acidophilus from the refridgerated setion with 20 billion live cultures per capsule and started it 2 times a day. I hate yogurt but I bought Activia and I am eating 2 of them a day. I rubbed tea tree oil around the exterior, not interior today and am going to try 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide and 1/2 cup water douche starting tonight for 7 nights to see if that works.
I will let you know if it works. I do know that the VHessentials does the trick, but I would hate to have to do that every month.
