Potty Training Help !!

posted 3rd Dec
Today, I started taking potty training a lil bit more serious with DD. By the way, she's 2. I bought her some little girl undies and been taking her often to the potty. My question is how often should I take her? Every half hour?
She's already had some experience with the kiddy potty but she'll say she peed just to get off. So I always gotta double check with her. Any tips, advice ?
I'd like to hear some of your success stories as well

i started both my girls around 18 months, determined to have them out of diapers by their 2nd bday. I started by waking them up from a nap and pointing them on the toilet. I left them in undies and if they started to pee we ran to the toilet and whatever was left went in and we celebrated. I always used positive reinforcement vs getting upset if they had an accident. And I also gave my kids the option. Diaper or undies. I would let them pick, eventually they pick diapers because they are more comfortable. Develop a routine, you know how often you change her diaper, so you know how often she urinates. Based on that you can determine how often you should do random potty time. Although i didn't personally do that. If thats your method. Id guess based on how often you change her.

Would it be guaranteed that she pees every time we go every hour ?

I can say for now she considers diapers uncomfortable. I always catch her taking them off at bedtime herself. But okay, thanks guys.

Quoting 'Alaina's Mommy:" Sorry, question?"

First time I saw the thread it was blank but I think it might have been my computer acting like a dumbass! Sorry. Anyways, I think every thirty minutes is a good idea. This may be kind of wrong, I don't know, don't care. However, my friend would make her daughter stand in front of the toilet for five minutes if she peed on herself, ten minutes the next time .. so on! So on! She would also make her drink a lot of water so she could go pee more often, she was potty trained in like three days.

It's fine. Im not sure if standing in front of the toilet is going to work but I'll try it. More water is a good idea, thank you!

Take her every 30 min to an hour. You can make a sticker chart where she gets a sticker every time she goes to the bathroom.. Keep an eye on how much she drinks too, the more she drinks, the more often she'll have to go

again i PERSONALLY don't believe in punishing a child for not learning at your rate. But both of my girls were completely out of diapers by age 2 without me ever having to get upset. Patients and persistence is the way to go. Lead by example. Run to the bathroom with her when she says peepee, and you pee also, when you hear the sound, clap with her like yaay did you hear mommy pee? And high five. Teach her its a celebration so that she doesn't FEAR the toilet. I think punishment is counter productive.

We tried the sticker chart, FAIL! How long did it take Sophia to be fully potty trained?

True, & that's what we do now. When she actually feels herself pee, she gets very excited!

You could try M&M's. One for pee, two for poop, or however you want to do it. I don't even remember how long it took her.. I know if I had taken her more often and been more consistent, it would have been faster though. Consistency is key!

That sounds like it'll be a good idea. I know, she just went peepee  . & its my second time taking her in like an hour.
