I need advice

posted 3rd Dec
My baby is a onth old and he is bottle feed with the formula wic supplys. He seems like he is always cranky he's super gassy but has hard times pooping with out prunes he doesn't poop but every other day but with prunes he poops one a day two if I'm lucky. He always seems to be better when I give him the baby's gas medicine he grunts so much and trys so hard to poop and I think it hurts him and I rub his belly and he stops crying should I change his formula?

He's getting prunes already? Maybe you should talk to his pedi about a more gentle formula...

Yeah get a note from your pedi for a more gentle formula. We used the goodstart gentle ease or something like that. It had an orange top. Worked for him and wic will provide it.

He's really too young for prunes. All he needs is formula. Talk to his pedi about switching him. If you get a script, WIC will cover it.

Food is too soon being this, new. Glad it helps him poop but he,maybe pooping bc he cant digest food at this point. I would see about soy formula. My son ended up needing soy because he's lactose intolerant. found out by him having a hard stomach not able to poop and being fussy all the time by 3 weeks, old.

My son has a milk allergy too. He is on Similac Alimentum. Wic pays for it if you have a dr note.

That's the thing he doesn't spit up or his belly isn't ever hard. It just always looks a tad bit loathed.

If he is straining to poop thats not good. My son did that too and they switched his formula. Within a couple of days it was like he was a new baby! Happy baby happy mommy!

he's way too young for prunes! maybe thats whats hurting him! it is perfectly normal for him to poop only once a day or even once every other day since he's on formula. the straining and the fussyness are more of a problem though.... its a good idea to talk to the doc but wic does NOT need a doctors note. they will give you whatever formula you request as long as its on their list. and they have plenty of sensitive and lactose free options.

The prunes are what make him calm him sleeps better and he isn't fussy and no when he doesnt get prunes he goes like four days with out pooping some times a week an I give him prunes once every other day an its usually at night then he will poop an then he sleeps through the night. And I'm not giving him a bunch like three baby spoons.
