How come the midwife is so expensive? I was wondering about one and found somebody asking for 700, but I don't know if you had something specific in mind and that's why you have to pay that much. I'm not sure I'm going to get one but I didn't do as much research. If you have to stay with that OB then keep him in check, don't be afraid to put him in his place.

Just looked it up, I'm thinking of a doula which is different so I'm sorry, misinformed there.

Mws out here are like 2000-2500. 6k seems really high ouch.

For the insensitive dr ugh. Tell him to stfu. maybe his scale is wrong! But either way who cares. If ur not like morbidly obese i don't see an issue.

Tnite I had a crazy hunch n checked hubby's credit score w all 3 bureaus. His stupid experian has been a 590 for months. His scores are now a 688-659-650   hoping we can finally get outta here now! He's gonna make an appt w the mortg chick. *dances* please oh please house gods let it be high enough!

And in other news- my belly is now sticking out past the breasts n the belly button has gone flat n is ready to pop out lol never did w the girls but I've got 3 ish months to go so we'll see. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!!

a midwife here is 3500-4000 but they want it all paid by 36 weeks... no long term payment plan.   Otherwise that's what we'd be doing. The midwives I see now are only hospital birth but still have a higher rate of natural birth than a doctor or OB. It'll probably cost me more than 3500-4000 but I can make long term payments and apply for financial assistance with it.

Are you guys able to pay with insurance to have the midwives or no? I saw that somewhere but I knew i'd need to look into it more specifically. I was thinking of just a doula there with me because i'm unsure whether I want to get medicated or not. I really can't seem to make the decision and I am trying to make a pretty uninformed one at that. I was looking up in my county for a doula that I could use my insurance with and I think they said I might be able to get reimbursed by the insurance but I think I have to get the claim processed by myself. If it could work that way I still find it more worth it than not having one, but again, I need to do more research.

Idk if my ins would cover it or not. But my Ob thing is two midwives n an Ob dr for reference/referral. So far I haven't seen/met him. I am also only seeing one of the midwives. Haven't seen/met the other either. But the office is in the hospital so idk if that matters or not but yea my ins is paying for most of it. The rest I'm set up on a payment plan- $175/month until April or may and no set date to pay just whenever my appt is. Suggestion- look up the ICAN network local fb group page for your area. There are usually doulas and midwives who run the page and they could help you find cheaper midwives. I know my local chapter has lots of doulas and midwives who care and make payments, etc w.e ya need.

And some more great news- hubby has an appt mon morning w mortgage chick. She said the scores we got are going to be HIGHER when she looks mon so definitely time to come in and see what we can get pre approved for!!!! I have been doing the happy dance all morning lol we'd. After my appt were gonna go drive around to a few houses I've been eyeing up.

That's pretty exciting stuff! I can't wait until we get settled into our first home. It'll be a bit until I get to that point but I can only imagine how happy I'd be too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and happy hunting!

Haha. My belly is so different this time around too! I'm carrying so low and far out, just like the old wives tales say.

I have medi-cal but now they put you on a specific plan without even asking :/ if you have straight medical it pays for the midwife at a hospital birth. The midwife im in love with charges 4000 to have the baby at the birthing center which is less then at a hospital and 2500 for the rest of the office visits without insurance :/ I was thinking about getting a duola though to kinda clarify my birth plan with the doctor as he isnt to hip on the natural birth.

Yeah, that's insane. I didn't think they would go up that high. 2500 for office visits without insurance? :O

It's hard for me to give advice since I'm pretty new to this scene, but I wish you luck no matter which way you choose. Just try to find what option is going to work out the best for you that doesn't leave you overly stressed in the end. There's gotta be others out there that can fit your needs that don't ask for that much, or that can work with you somehow.

Yay! Isn't it the best seeing how much they've grown and watching them move? I feel outdated when I watch the ultrasound I did at 16 weeks. I wish the docs would let you record the ultrasound at my place.
