Im so sorry you had to deal with that. I would find a new doc. I had to get onto my OB office bc the last doc i saw (there is a group of 4) got all over me about not gaining enough weight. I was all like WTF, my mom was just murdered, my gma passed from cancer, and its only been a month and a half since it all started happening. if baby is growing fine, then my weight shouldnt matter at all. The doc just had that deer in the headlights look. I was a little mean, but F that, Im doing this with my DH thankfully but I dont have my mom anymore to give me advice on what to say/ not to say.... I would either tell them that that is not acceptable, or find someone new. I was ticked so I can just imagine how you felt. Stay strong mama!!! I thought bt 20-40 pounds is normal for pregnancy right? and we are getting close, so i dont see what the problem is. UUUGHHH. doctors/men in general are pissing me off right now.

That happened to me two appts ago... at the office I go to there are 6 different doctors and you have to rotate through all them so when you go into labor you know who is on call.. mine started out with this doctor coming in an saying everything looks great but it looks like your weight is really jumpy I said what do you mean your the 1st to even say anything about it I thought it was fine he said well you came in here in October weighing 161 then you came in the nxt appt 138 then 143 now your 151 I said if you look at your records I weighed 161 in October of 2008 when I was pregnant with my son then went into labor that night that's where you are getting 161 from. Before I got pregnant with my son in 2008 I wasn't at a healthy weight I was under weight for most of my pregnancy now with this pregnancy I am a lot more healthier I weighed 130 before I got pregnant then when I came in here I was 138 then 143 now 151 how is that bad it says in every reading source I have this is when you put on maybe a pound a week how am I in the wrong doctor. You are the only one who said anything about this subject so before you come in here scolding someone maybe you should have you correct facts I think we are done here have a good day sir an then I left.


Keep your head up girl its the doctors job apparently to be blunt an not to sugar coat everything but the ob/gyns I think should have a little more compassion towards women cause everyone has a different situation and different needs. When I went back in the doctor I had
last Friday apologized for what the one I had at my previous appt had said an the way he reacted . He told ne I was in fact correct an my weight was not a issue an if it was he himself would have brought it to my attention cause he is the head doctor in the office.

Thanks everyone! I really want to switch doctors and really try to find an awesome female Ob. I really think they are a little more considerate so hopefully i can find one in my network!

I'm really sorry you had a bad experience with a male OB. I had the same experience with a female OB when I was pregnant with my daughter. I love my male OB now though! I'm so glad I switched. Hopefully switching over goes smoothly for you.

And hi everyone! I just found this thread. I'm due June 1st, although I'll probably have my little guy in May. Nice to meet you all. Hope everyone is feeling decent!

That's terrible! I'm sorry you had to go through that. With my last pregnancy they told me at about 30 weeks they wanted me to stop gaining weight, for the most part I did (I busted my butt exercising every day), yet this time I'm only 21 weeks and I've already gained about 30 pounds and no one's said anything to me. Anyways.. I'm sorry he was such an ass, your body's gonna do what it needs to do. It may not be what you're putting into your mouth that's making you gain weight, it could just be your body's way of responding to having a child. I know I'm not eating anything extra with this pregnancy and I'm gaining wayyy more than I did last time. It's different with everyone, but he definitely sounds like an ass.

Awww congrats new mama... I'm due june 4th with my little hirl I had my 4yr old little a week early so I might deliver her in may who knos though

I think May/June are great months to have babies. I don't mind being pregnant in the winter. I watched my friend be pregnant during the hot summer and poor girl was miserable, lol. Congrats on your girl! They are so amazing!

No luck with changing the Ob there are only 2 doctors in my plan which is a plan through Medi-cal/Anthem. The other one isn't accepting new patients   im trying to save enough for my midwife but its 6500 so we will see.

t is dangerous to live next door to my mother who knows how to cook... oh dear i am going to get fat from this woman and her home cooking lol!! How the heck do you tell yourself to put the fork down ahahaha
