Every few months DH tells me how lucky he is to be with me, and how he never thought he'd find a woman like me. This is always followed by a "WTF was I thinking/I was so stupid in having been with my ex rant from him. I feel bad for him, because he seems to voice some feeling of being inferior because he quite literally married a cheating whore who he knew was cheating on him the entire relationship.

We always end up getting into a discussion on STDs after this, and how lucky he was that he never got anything from her. (followed by some stories of her dirty snatch issues, TMI, sorry).

He got checked for STDs about 2 months before we got together which was official (but private) in January 2009.
I have had three long term relationships prior to him, and had been checked and demanded all three of my potential mates to be checked as well.

It makes me wonder, how many people get checked before diving in?

I get checked out on my own after changing partners. But I am also super selective on who I sleep with.

We didn't test, only because we were both virgins when we got together. Otherwise, I would of definitely had SO get tested before I did anything with him.

We didnt but we were virgins lol. We have both been checked since because i had a yeast infection and they told me it was an std and they checked DH right then and there too and then they came back saying it was a yeast infection. Idiots.   neither of us has cheated so we were just like WTF lol.

Technically yes because i got pregnant at 16 and they sent me to the lab.sadly. i lost my baby at 12 weeks 5 days.not long after i met my now SO and we been too since and have two children together.

Virgins can still have STDs just saying.

We both have been tested before and during our relationship.

DH says he didn't care when he was with his ex because he wasn't actually on love with her, was super depressed, and thought he was going to die anyways. So he slept with her knowing that in the time frame they were together (off and on for a period of about three years) that she had become a stripper and prostitute at one point and had admittedly slept with hundreds of guys.

He gets so down on himself, it's pretty nasty, I probably would too, but it seems like he feels disgusted with himself, and I don't know how to truly console him.

Especially knowing that I almost passed him up because of my knowledge of his past partner, KWIM?

But he isn't a raunchy guy. He's an amazing husband who I would never worry about going astray, FYI so y'all know inspite of his ex's checkered past, his is nothing like hers.

Neither of us had had sex of any kind, did drugs or have a family history (mother) of having an STD before giving birth to either of us.
I don't know what other STD either of us could of had...

Edit to add: Neither of us were lying about being virgins either. Have a history of cold-sores (Herpes), or had oral sex with anyone else.
Pretty sure we were safe.. especially considering I've been tested for everything due to being pregnant.

i have been tested my DH has been tested.. anyone i have ever been with has been.

Before I was married, I was usually in long term relationships. 3 years, 2 years, 9mo. Although I dated guys for shorter periods of time in between the longer relationships, I still got tested regularly even if I was in a relationship and we were not sleeping together. I know some STD's can take up to 6mo or longer to even show up. The guy I dated for two years, I found out he slept with 8 other women in ONE month, or at least that's how many I came across when I snuck into his e-mail one Christmas eve. I just read the messages from that December and didn't want to read anymore. Needless to say, I kicked him out, and had a OBGYN appointment set up within the next week, and kept getting checked every few months. Luckily I had good insurance and a job where i could pay for the tests when I reached the limit on my insurance. I have NOOOO clue how I did not end up with an STD. I would say I'm very lucky! Proud to also say I have never had an STD! After that whole thing, I usually get tested regularly when I was dating someone that I was sleeping with and even after we broke up. I make sure I know that I am clean before I start actually getting sexually involved with someone so fingers don't get pointed at the wrong person. But I found the man of my dreams, we got married and we're expecting baby number 2 in just a few months!

I didn't..mostly because the only guy I was with before him was a virgin. (at least I'm pretty sure, he could have lied) I don't have any STD's. Only time I've ever been tested was when I got pregnant (I've only been with 2 different guys) And I'm the only girl SO has ever dated that he's gotten close enough to sleep with.

Before I ever had sex, I went to get on birth control at Planned Parenthood so I was checked before I even lost my virginity.

I continued through Planned Parenthood until I got married at 20 with my ex husband (I pretended I was younger to get free BC). So I have frequently been checked because it is SOP at Planned Parenthood. Been pregnant six times since I was 20, and my OB checks each time at the initial visit.

I always say yes to this voluntary check not because I distrust my husband, but just to ensure baby's safe entrance into this world in case something hidden pops up.

Stuff can stay dormant for awhile, and it's possible your partner could have something that doesn't show up because of this dormancy period and you might escape getting it for quite sometime or altogether!

Honestly I never had anyone get tested. I didn't go without a condom though until I was pregnant with my ex... then we were tested.

But with Tony... we always went without condoms. I didnt care, honestly. We are both clean and still get tested, but we didnt make each other get tested before deciding to not use condoms.

I was never tested,until i got pregnant. My s/o was tested before we met. We had unprotected sex before we knew anything about each other,thank god we're both clean,eh? I was only with one other guy before i met my s/o and we were together for 3 years.
