Getting married or know someone who is?????

posted 2nd Dec
You know how usually at the reception the tables are numbered, and then each number is called at random? Well, my husband DJs weddings and he came up with a fantastic way to call numbers. Thought I'd share it with you.   (drum roll.....)

Joe's Dinner Dash
Here's how it works:
Each table has either a funny name or a number. Then the DJ announces that the table who comes up with the most money for the bride and groom will be catapulted to the front of the list to get their food first! Then the 2nd place would go next and so on and so forth.

Not lying, the tables were coming up with gobs of cash and one table at a reception even gave a gift card to a restaurant! The bride and groom ended up with over $800 just from dinner alone.

Just thought I'd share that with any ladies getting married soon.

I honestly think that's so tacky. People spent a smurf ton of money to travel to even COME to our wedding, I'd never dream of guilting people into reaching even deeper into their pockets for us.

Thats an interesting way to do it! Ive never seen the numbers been called randomly, Ive only seen them go in order. We are doing a buffet but no seating chart (only 50 people) so no order lol it will just be a long line. Hopefully people will space themselves out

I completely agree with this. That's a money grab and is so embarrassingly tacky.

This is done in lieu of a dollar dance to help the couple out on their honeymoon. It's not like you're forcing people to give money. Plus, everyone gets really into it....it's like a fun game for them.

I don't see how it is any different than the traditional money dance.

Exactly. He was trying to think of a new funner way to replace the dollar dance. The people seemed to like this way more than an awkward dance with someone you may hardly know at all.

Tacky tacky tacky!!!

I've had them do other competitions (first table to name trivia about couple---like where they had their first date) or similar things. Begging for money is tacky as hell!!!

Which I also think is tacky. Except this is worse because everyone is going to be looking around their table expecting EVERYONE to pull bills out of their purse or wallet to contribute... You're going to feel obligated to even if you don't have it to spare.

This! I would be sooo embarrassed if I were the bride and groom... Why would you ask for even more from the people attending your wedding that had already brought gifts and money?? That's rude imo

I wouldn't even do the dollar dance. If I couldn't afford to get married then I would put it off until I could afford it.

To the people saying its tacky:
How is it ANY different than people paying to dance with the bride or groom?? I like this idea MUCH better.
