Doctor not on call.... what to do???

So I am 38weeks and think I may be going into labor. I called L&D and they said my doctor is not on call and I would have to see the other OB/GYN which I have had before. He delivered my 2nd and he litterally butchered me. I have had c-sections for all 3 of my girls and with the two that my regular doctor did I never bruised and I healed perfectly but when I had to have the other guy it was awful. So I refuse to see him. So know if I really am in labor I have to go down to the city and see a doctor I dont know. Have any of you ever had to just go to a different hospital and have someone not your doctor deliver your baby?

I thought OB's were suppose to come in for deliveries regaurdless? At least mine does for all his patients. I hope everything works out for you, girl. Good luck!

My OB didn't deliver my daughter. The on-call doc did. I'd never met him before, but he did fine.

With both of my kids, I had prenatal care at the local health department and some random doctor on duty delivered them.

Both did an excellent job.

No, they don't have to.

My OB wasn't on call the weekend I went into labor. If only Asher had waited a few more hours. lol Down here, the OBs have started switching weekends. When Addy was born in 08..my OB and midwife were out of town, but I called the midwife and told her. He didn't know she was coming and they both showed up. lol

I've never had my ob deliver any of my kids. Even if he/she isn't on call won't the clinics after hours answering service be able to call

My daughter came out before the doctor came in lol but with my son my OB doc was on call and delivered c-section

Well I called the L&D and the ladies where very rude. They know that I wont see the other doctor because of my personal past experience with him and they said well we cant help you. Your doctor isnt on call and we arent calling him. You know your options you will have to go down state. Ugh, I just wish he was there. he's been on vacation for 2 weeks now. He knows I wont see the other doctor. I dont think I can make it till friday. I really think this is labor.

Yes I had 2 c-section. this wll be my 3rd I has both my children at different hospital's I went in labor with my daughter and they took me to the closest hospital and I was bleeding so bad they took me for a c-section right away it wasn't bad but I rather it be my doctor this time. good luck

I really hope that if I go to a different hospital they wont think that I am a joke because I wont see the other guy. They cant turn me away can they?

If I were you I would try calling a diff hospital if there is another one close to you and tell them your situation and see what they say as if it is real labor you dont want to wait to long and you deff dont need rude nurses and doctors when this is supposed to be a time of joy...best of luck to you mama
