How to brand photos

Can someone please teach me how to brand photos? I mainly just want to do it for advertising purposes. I saw a video that said to make a brush and them use your logo as a quick stamp for an easy way, but then every time I use it to stamp, it really doesn't work that well. I am SO freaking confused.

If someone could provide me tips or tell me how to do this (there has to go to be an easier way) I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I kind of mean watermarking, but I'm not really worried about someone taking the pic. I more just want my logo on there for advertising purposes. I use adobe Photoshop. I was trying to create a logo in there and turn it into a brush. It's just that I am so limited on how the logo can look in there because even if I make it all awesome changing the layer options, pretty much only the TEXT and not the actual design of the text, carries over to use as the brush.
