Where and what age (ear piercing)?

posted 2nd Dec
Where did you go to get DD's ears pierce?
What age was she?
Was the experience good or bad?

DD will get her ears pierced when she's old enough to want them done and understand it will hurt.

Same with me I also want the experience of her getting excited and nervous and picks out her own earrings.

I dont know if it's just my comp but I can't see any text in my post so I'll add this here..
My daughter started asking at 3 1/2. She used her own 4th birthday money to get them done. We prepared by watching you tube videos and it went well.

Same here... add to that: When she's also old enough to take care of them on her own...in other words, mature enough for the responsibility.

This, and she has to be old enough to be able to understand how to properly take care of them.

Sorry- I got cut off.
She was apprehensive at first, and after the first ear was done, she thought it was nothing and was perfectly calm for the second.

Not sure if you wanted opinions and were undecided on whether to pierce your child's ears... I will tell you my thoughts

I think this should be the individuals decision to make ALWAYS. I would never go get a tatto done on any of my children, nor woul most people, so why something equally permanent and cosmetic as earrings. True, most girls will want them. But perhaps your daughter will not nperhaps the fad will end. Who really knows. Let it be a decision they make themselves. Teach our kid ownership and pride over their bodies, an we teach them how to respect themselves.

My mom got my ears pierced as soon as a doctor okayed it after my two week check up and Im sooo greatful she did. All my other sisters had theirs done around 7 or 8 and had problems with infection and all of them tried to change them without my moms permission and still have problems with their ear peircings because of it. Because I was so young when I got them done I couldnt really play with them and my mom had no problem doing all the after care and didnt change my earings until I was a year old. I remember being in dance when I was 10 and watching girls crying as their mom changed their earings and I was so happy that I had been able to change mine for as long as I could remember by myself with no pain or risk of infections.

i waited to do my daughters until she was 4. she only wanted to get the one done after it happened because it does hurt. i made her get the second adn she cried and cried. during this aftermath since her father and i were not together when she was with him at his house he did not keep up on the care of her ears at all! adn then one day her grandma (on dads side) took them out. they half closed up and she is now 6 and does not want earrings at all. luckily our local jewelers does them for free for the first pair. so i didnt lose out on $$ but i felt really bad for her. now my little baby thats in my tummy and who will be arriving very soon, im getting hers done at 6 mths. im an adult and know how to care for them properly and she wont ever remeber the little pinch she had to go through =) win win for mommy
