flour, salt dough

posted 2nd Dec
i made a flour and salt dough so i can make ornatments of my sons had n give them as gifts to the grandparents. i baked them yesterday on 200 for about 2.5 hours. they were still somewhat soft so i just let them sit on the counter for the evening but they never got hard, so i stuck them back in the oven on 200 for another 1-2 hours. still they are somewhat soft. i wouldnt be able to save them for years to come without them being bent somehow. anyone have any ideas on what i should do? they arent too thick, maybe 1/4 inch if not less. i still wanted to paint them and probably spray them with an acrylic spray so they last even if humidity gets to them

Ours took FOREVER to dry in the oven....like, 5 hours? On 200 degrees.

It took four straight hours on 200 for mine, and only the very thin ones were totally hard.

maybe i should just let them cook for a few more hours? possibly raise the temp a little to 250-300?? they arent super soft but i would be able to bend them if i tried.

what recipe did you use? I've had to play around with it a bit, still working on finding a good one. 1 cup flour, 1/2 salt and 1/2 warm water was WAY too sticky for me.

I did 2 cups flour 1 water 1 salt. Even after adding more flower it never got "unsticky" I had to scrap it. I'm hoping I can find a way to make a ceramic mix
