Informed decision about circumcision.

I'll start off by saying DH isn't always this much of an ass, he feels strongly on this topic, as do I. We are on opposite sides as far as circumcision goes. He wants it done, I do not.

He just told me that I cannot make an informed decision to NOT circumcise our son, because I am not a male. What do you ladies think about that. Agree or disagree?

It's hard to even have a conversation about it with him. He immediately gets defensive and frustrated with me. Last night I asked him why he wanted it done, his only reason was that he didn't want our son to get made fun on in the "locker room" and that one day our son will realize he is different from daddy.

My reasons are that it's 100% cosmetic, unnecessary, not worth putting my son though, yadda yadda..


ETA: Last night he even went as far as to say that he'd divorce me if I didn't have our son circumcised. It's getting ridiculous!

I disagree. But you will need to show him the research and compromise.

Your DH has stupid reasons. Show him the research.

Disagree 100%. He's still your child.

While I'm pro circumcision i understand your stance. Educate him by showing him your evidence. Ask him to gather factual evidence for his case and sit down and have a factual talk about it and hopefully that will help.

But he can't make an informed decision either because he won't be your son in 13 years when this "locker business" is happening.
Tell him that the rate of circumcision is decreasing rapidly so he'll be the only one in the locker room with a cut penis and then what would everyone say?
[I don't understand why nearly every pro-circ person says this, like 8th grade boys are just walking around the locker rooms swinging their penis around. Most of the time they don't even take their underwear off.]

He just doesn't want to see it. It's annoying. He's not like this usually, but the second this topic is brought up, his wall goes up and he's stuck on his reasons.

What exactly does he know about an uncircumcised penis? What experience does he have with one?

Disagree, I will let my husband make the decision but he has RESEARCHED it and is NOT making the desicion at all based on cause he's a man or to look like daddy or anything like that. He actually surprised me the other day because before he always said he would want to circumsize but I brought it up after reading a thread on here and he said he is starting to lean more twoards not doing it.

That is EXACTLY what I told him. He said "well some schools still shower after PE". Well, I'm pretty sure they aren't going to throw 10 naked middle/high school guys into the same shower.

I just asked him that, and he has nothing to say.

He later (last night) said he shouldn't have said the divorce thing, he was mad. But still, it's uncalled for and immature.

I'm in the same boat. Dh still wants Ds2 done I do not. I told him after the. Smurf I went threw with Ds1 I couldn't put another on of my kids threw that. Ds1 was circed and the doctor left to much foreskin. It kept attacking to the head of his penis. They pulled it back the first time (very painful) but it kept happening so he had to be recirced at a year. Which entailed him being but under. Dh is still fighting me on this.
