picture help

i'm taking my own pictures this year and i need some help... i'm wanting to use the continuous picture option on my camera but i can only use it on P, S, A and M setting and if my kids move just a little they're blurry or the picture just comes out funky.. also i can't get the right settings to take picture of christmas light...
here's a few of my attempt today.. i plan on trying again a few times during this week.. hahaha

I would try a different setting, maybe outside?
