Vbac question?

posted 2nd Dec
Okay, so I know induction is a big no-no for doing a vbac. What about epidurals? Just want to know what my options are before I end up there and I'm like, "Holy crap, what am I going to do?" Also if you had a successful vbac or unsuccessful vbac, how was it and why do you think it failed/succeeded? Thanks a lot!

yes you can have an epidural.

inductions with pitocin are NOT a big no no. it may increase your risk of a uterine rupture by a tiny percentage, thats it.

Yes on epidurals.

Mine failed because my body knew better. Always listen to and trust your body.

Huh, I was sadly misinformed then. Last time I saw the doctor he just kept saying no induction,, because it increases the risk. I wasn't asking for one, but I just assumed that it greatly increased the risks.. Hm.

i will choose induction before i choose a repeat csection! it depends on your doctor too, some just wont do it for liability reasons. i have been doing MAJOR research because i want a vbac lol

I've had 3 vbacs. Two induced & had the epidural both times. What was the reason for your csection?

They are really happy that I chose a vbac instead of a repeat csection. Like ecstatic, so hopefully it will happen. If I was at the hospital where I had my first, once you have a csection they don't even give you the option, you just automatically have another csection.

Well you should be a good candidate for VBAC. Good luck!

Lucky you. I wanted a vback but my hospital wont do them I would have to go to dallas or h-town witch is not a option seeing as we dont have a car and are depending on his dad to take us. But we will have a car by the time I get pregnant again and a vback will happen.

I didnt have a successful v-bac and it makes me sad. I never wanted a c-section with my first and I was heart set on a v-bac for my second and after 24hrs of labor, I was still only 7cm and the pitocin was causing baby's heart rate to drop. I suggest going into labor on your own and do NOT let the doctor break your water. I believe that is what caused me not to dilate any further.

I'm so sorry   I am so nervous for my VBAC attempt to fail... I was induced with my 1st labor and after the dr broke my water I dilated faster but he didn't really give it a chance to break on its own. I really don't want ny intervention for my VBAC unless medically necessary!
