Urgent Care Worthy?

posted 1st Dec
Last night around 7pm, I went to pick up SO from work. When we got home, DD was very clingy and warm. So, I took her temp and she had a fever of 101.7. She didn't seem like she was in pain or acting sick, so, I just gave her some Motrin and she cooled down pretty quickly. 2am, I took DD's temp again and it was 102.5. I gave her more Motrin and like before, she cooled down within 10ish minutes. This morning at 7am, her temp was at 102.2, again gave her Motrin. Here we are 12:30pm and her fever is at 101.9. Idk what is going on with her. It's like as soon as the Motrin wears off, her fever spikes up again.

Is this Urgent Care worthy?
Have any clue what could be going on with her?
Could she caught a cold or something when I took her out to go pick up SO from work? (it was pretty cold)
Or could this be teething related because her two front teeth are finally coming in?

If it matters, she's 10mo old and she has NO other symptoms, just a fever.

TIA

My guess is that it is an ear infection. Whenever my kids spike fevers they always have an ear infection.

I would swtich off motrin and tylenol and see if that breaks the fever, if it does not I would head over and get her checked out.

Fever at night is DD first sign of an ear infection.

She's had an ear infection recently, she usually pulls at her ears. But, that could be it.Maybe it came back?.. I've never had just random fevers with either of my LOs.

i would rotate tyenol (acetaminophen) with the motrin (ibuprofen) and see how that goes in getting the fever down. if her fever is coming down with meds, then giving that other dose of the other kind might help to keep the fever down when the motrin wears off. if it continues to come back or gets higher, i would call the dr. we don't have an "urgent care" place, for us it's just the E.R. at the hospital. so, i would call first before taking her in. jmo. good luck. if the fever stays down, i'd still call to try to get an appt on monday to see if it is an ear infection or strep or something.

I'm def gonna make a dr apt Monday. How would I go about using both? I don't wanna give her too much meds. Like I gave her Motrin last at 12:30 and her next does isn't until 6:30pm. She's a little warm now.

We usually only use tylenol but I keep motrin (all generic versions) on hand for times like this.

We do tylenol and 4 hours later motrin and 4 hours later tylenol. It is what our pedi suggested after our first high fever/ear infection.

Ok, so since I gave her Motrin at 12:30p , I should give her Tylenol at 4:30p? Then skip Motrin at 6:30p and give it to her at 8:30p instead? Am I getting this right? Lol, I feel stupid.

yes. like this. usually you'd wait like 4-6 hours between doses of the same kind of medication. but if you're doing the two different kinds, you can do 3-4 hours. for example, if i gave tylenol at 12:30, i would give motrin at 3:30, the tylenol at 6:30, etc.

It sounds like what was going on when my daughter had a UTI. None of the doctors listened to me and i finally took her to the ER because she had a fever for like 8 days and i made them check her for a UTI and she had one.
