Jr?? or not..

Here's my situation: I found out I was pregnant with my first child in October, 2008.. The daddy and I split up when i was two months pregnant. We barely spoke the whole pregnancy. My son was born July 7th, 2009. I named him Jayden. When my son was 10 months old his dad went to prison. He didnt get out until October, 2011. After he got out he started calling and asking about Jayden, and comming to pick him up sometimes. It didnt take long for me to see that he was a changed person. Well, we have been back together for a year now and are expecting another little boy! He wants to make this child a Jr., which i think im fine with..but i dont know. what do you all think? Im just concerned when Jayden gets older if he is going to be mad because he was the first born son, and is not the Jr. .. Any advice would be appriciated.

Give the child his own name.

I don't like naming children after yourself. But to each their own.

Personally none of my children will ever have the same name as their father. Just my opinion, but they're individuals...give them their own identity.

No jr. Usually it's the oldest who receives that title but even so, no jr. Let the kid have their own name and identity. My step bro is a jr n he's a mess. Locked up too missing years of his son's life he'll never get back. Jr in our house was not a term of endearment or to call him for dinner, it was always when he messed up and was in trouble. Think problem child lol

I'm not a fan of Jr., III, etc. no matter the birth order. I say give the child his own name and then you won't have to worry about it anyway. JMO.

I believe every child should have their own name.

I hate naming after people and think it takes away from their identity as individuals versus being lumped with the ones they were named after. That said, my first son was named after daddy because he'd be the IV and I hate it so badly and would love to change his name if I could. I managed to get away with calling him by his initials though, despite daddy saying we should call him by his initials.

I used my husband's middle name for the middle name of my child. My FIL also has the same middle name. So there is a Darrell Glen, Nathan Glen, and Noah Glen.

It's up to you. I was really against having a Jr. or Second in the past. Now my boy is a Second. He is named after my hubby who is an all around great guy who came from nothing and going further than anyone ever thought he would. Everyone who knows him loves and admires him including me  . So when he asked to have a Jr or a second when we found out we were having a boy I agreed. My son thinks it's cool that him and his daddy have the same name.

I will never give a child a "jr" name. Everyone deserves their own name IMO.

I have to add it's typically the first boy that gets that title but it's your kid and totally up to you.
