who goes where?

posted 1st Dec
I'm sorry. I know this question is asked a million times and for some reason my brain is just not remembering. But where do I put the carseats? lol DD is FF in a huge myride 65 and is behind the passenger. DS will be in an infant seat in the middle, but should I move my DD to the middle since she is FF? Or is where I have the seats ok? I drive a mini van if that matters

The one with the least amount of protect needs the safest place.

So, FF child in the middle, RF child behind driver. If they can't be side by side for whatever reason then FF child behind driver, RF behind passenger.

You Learn something new every day. In our car, we had DD behind the driver's seat (she's FF) and DS in the middle. Now, in our SUV, we have DS behind the passenger's seat and DD behind the driver's. Is that kosher? The vehicle has captain's chairs and a third row bench seat.

For some reason I thought dd was safer behind the passenger seat because there is almost no one sitting in the passenger seat. and ds would be behind the driver. but then I thought ff in the middle and ds behind the passenger. idk.

Driver side is safer because it is our absolute instinct to protect ourselves, so if middle isn't an option, we'll more than likely choose to protect our driver side vs passenger side.

Or so I've read.

My pediatrician just told me RF in the middle until the child is 2 years old, because if there's an impact on either side of the car, the baby is safest in the middle.

but what if you have more than child? They can't both be in the middle.

Oops. Shoulda slowed down reading that. ^^;
Ok, from the logic on car seat websites, the child front facing (your daughter is right?) should be in the middle because she's "less safe" by already being front facing. http://www.thecarseatlady.com/car_seats/rear-facing_seats.html
I don't know where you would put your son then.. it doesn't say if there's a preferred side.

I know. I kind of would figure that any mother would instinctively protect whatever side her child is on...but perhaps a father wouldn't be so instinctive in that respect? I don't know.

I couldnt put a child in the middle when I had #2. I had my toddler on the passenger side (still RF) because when she got out of the car she would always be curbside and not getting out into the street. The baby was on the driver side.

When we have #3 I will be buying new car seats. K FF (oldest) behind the driver, baby RF in the middle and M FF behind the passenger.

Right now I have two FF in each seat. Once I have baby number 3, I will scoot them over and have the RF infant seat behind the driver seat and the FF seats in the middle and passenger side.

for 3 weeks I will have to have dd on the passenger side ( where she is now) because I will be having a c-section and can't lite her. same with ds in the middle and my fat butt behind the driver. lol I always sit in the back with them in the first weeks. Dr won't let me drive anyways. I'd say it's 3 trips maybe.
So after that I should move ff dd to the middle and ds ( infant) to the driver? Or did I just mess that all to hell?
