Do your parents/grandparents do this?

My mom/grandma are always on my ass about stuff I do with DD. Like for example, I shared this picture on FB:


And my mom was like, "That's stupid! Is the baby supposed to freeze and get pneumonia?"   I was like, "I always dress Norah warm and never use a coat. She's never had pneumonia." And she came back with this crap about how I've been lucky so far. Um.. yeah.

Also, she's always bitching that the carseat straps are too tight. Ugh. I know she's like this because she only had to use a carseat with me, I'm her youngest kid. But I can explain to her the safety issues for hours and she just never even listens.

I got into a huge fight with my parents about this last night because I told them not to do it when it first started getting cold out then found out they were still putting him in with his big jacket on!!!
I was so pissed I was on the verge of tears. Luckily my mom actually listened to me and looked it up online to see for herself.

Good job momma. And besides, you can easily use thin warm fleece coats. I don't have a need for thick fluffy coats in Georgia, and their zip up hoodies aren't too thick to affect the straps, but if I did need to use them, I would take them off in the car. Cars are warm. My kids not flying out of the window in a wreck is more important than a fluffy coat.

I'd tell her its called a car heater. Baby isn't going to freeze  

My mom never said/says anything because i always have a blanket and the car is heated up. Plus she knows i'd go into this huge rant about it and she just doesn't want to hear it. DH's grandma tried to tell me it was perfectly safe to use an old carseat, that goodwill sells them and that it doesn't matter if they've been in a wreck or not. I ignore her.

Wow, I would have been livid! It's a good thing she listened to you though. My mom doesn't take DD often so I don't really have to worry about her doing stuff behind my back.

They pick him up from daycare twice/ week  
Not to mention they never bought him a nice carseat so they're using the free one I got from Medicaid that he has to be FFing in.

I have the same argument with my mom all the time. It drives me nuts and she just thinks I'm being paranoid and over protective because her youngest child is 23 and "survived her terrible dangerous parenting decisions." she's so smurfing dramatic, but whatever, if she doesn't want to follow the rules I set for carseats, diet, bedtime, and whatever else, she doesn't take the kids.
She is still insisting I turn my 23 month old FFing and says my almost 6 year old looks ridiculous in a carseat and doesn't need it. I just ignore her.

My mom asked me when i was going to start my youngest on cereal since i was such a big baby and needed the extra to keep me full.  I told her she was too young and i'd maybe start at 6 months and she just said "whatever". DH's grandma also told me to give her water because she was "constipated" because she hadn't pooped in 2 whole days. *gasp*

Surprisingly my mom hasn't said anything about the RF thing yet. I'm sure we'll have our fights later about DD being in a carseat until she's height and weight ready to be out of one.

Yup, she's just that old fashioned. One of her sons buys and resells old/used carseats and she tried to get me to buy all of my DD's stuff from him. I had no idea where that smurf had been, so i bought all new and she got mad.  It was my damn money i don't see why she'd have a fit.

Lol when my son was like 2 months old my dad was like "So when does he start formula?" I was like never..... he thought babies needed formula to get nutrients. He also wanted me to start baby food at like 3 months haha
I think parents just forget things sometimes.

My grandma told me to give DD Karo syrup when she was 2mo. I just ignored her. I ended up giving her pear juice (doctor's orders). I wasn't about to give her syrup... wtf.
