I wish my daughter wasn't attached to her "baby blankie".. the other day I forgot it when we went to daycare and I had to go get it on my lunch break so she could have it for nap time. Lol

my dd is 5 and promised me shed stop when she turned 5. Nope hasn't. It's an anxiety thing with her. If she feel anxious she does it. God I hate that I passed my anxiety down to her   poor baby.

you should be so happy your kid is not attached to anything like that. i used a binky with my oldest child. and i felt so bad when i took it away when he was 2, but any more than that i thought it would inhibt his speech. ive had 2 more children since then and have never used a binky again.. my youngest child 20 mths does love his blanky at nap time.. but hes not crazy about it

My oldest daughter has a wubby she can't sleep without(her light up sea horse), but she's sooooo not attached to me, lol.
My youngest alllllways wants to be held (15 months), but she doesn't have a binky or anything she's attached to. She does suck her thumb whenever she holds something soft (and ONLY then, it's so cute).

Babies are just different from each other. You're doing nothing wrong.

Yeah..My daughter does it all the time when she's feeling anxious too. She will twist her hair into her finger then suck her thumb. I don't know how to get her to stop.

Your lucky! lol
My little brother was/IS a thumb sucker! he used to carry around his "rag" (a burp cloth) lol and could not sleep without it. My mom FINALLY got rid of all his "rags" but its real hard to stop thumb sucker.. he's now 13 and we still catch him sucking his thumb, mainly at night.

So now it's got me thinking.... why aren't my kids attached to objects or me for that matter for comfort?"</blockquote>

My son is attached to me and prefers my company to everyone else, but he's always been happy with someone else unless he wanted a boob----no binki my, he stopped thumb sucking on his own at 7mo (when his reflux disappeared), and had never had a security item except right after his brother died---he still sleeps with his "brother" (a lil stuffed angel) but doesn't freak if it is not there (Brother sometimes gets left in his backpack or in my bed or on the couch---or on his night stand, etc)

I think it shows your kids are well adjusted if they don't need all that extra security!

I was a child who was not a mommy's girl, and did not have bindis, blankets or anything. It had nothing to do with my mom, she was a very loving great mom, it was just my personality. My daughter however, is 3 1/2 ( going on 13) and has a baby, and sucks her fingers. The attachment is crazy to that baby, and again it has nothing to do with my personality, she is just creative and found a friend in an object.

As far as attachment goes, a child that cries when their parent leaves, but stops shorty after has a normal attachment. A child that does not cry when the parent leaves, but acknowledges the parents return and seems pleases about it, also has a normal attachment. So, unless your kid seems pissed at you upon your return, you have a totally normal attachment and should not worry at all!

You're lucky. Dd is attached to her wrap (moby) I even made a "pillow case" for it so she wouldn't get tangled while sleeping with it. The strangest thing. Now, it just has to be in the same room. She doesn't NEED it next to her like when she was little.
