re: Breastfeeding moms

I called my hospital today to see if they were Bfing friendly in the nicu. They said VERY. They push for moms who don't want to bf to at least pump for them as much as possible while in the nicu. She said they really want their preemies to get bm. This is Soooo relieving. She said they have hospital pumps there to use while she's in the nicu. And if I can keep her in until 35 weeks that she will probably be able to get nipple time as well. I'm so happy to know Bfing is possible. This is k e thing that has been eating me alive.

It's totally possible! Just don't give up. And hopefully you can keep that baby in as long as it's safe. Are they giving Baby steroid shots? There are lost of moms on here that BF in the nicu, if you posted a topic asking for advice I'm sure you'd get lots.

Yes I had the shots when I was in the hospital for thanksgiving.


Idk if my boobs start leaking a lot of colostrum if I should save it? Idk how that works. But I plan on getting Milkies to catch everything I leak. And with dd I leaked crazy when I was preg. So if tht happens idk if I can save that for her or not.

Hm, I don't know if you should save it now or not. I just know that you shouldn't try to squeeze it out because it can send you into labor. Supposedly. I tried and it didn't do a damn thing

Yeah I try not to but it's so tempting haha  but it's not soaking leaking yet but if it does start idk if I should save it.

Yeah I'll probably ask while I'm in the hospital. What else will I have to do with all my time haha
