Early Gender REsults!!! FTW

posted 30th Nov
I had this test done, the Materniti21, because i am 35. It tests for downs and two other major genetic abnormalities by finding fetal cells in the mother's blood. CRAZY.
Anyhow, through this test that i had done at 10 weeks (results at 12) I was able to find out the sex of the baby ....
which is another GIRL yay.

How futuristic is this smurf>?

How'd they do that? O_o
I thought all babies started as girls or something and didn't develop a gender until later.

The sex is determined at conception. Depends on the winning sperm   But the exterior genitalia doesn't completely form til 14ish weeks, until then the external appearance would actually look more like a male.

ETA: This site explains it pretty well, and has pics to show the development. http://www.baby2see.com/gender/external_genitals.html

A lot of mothers of males also will have male DNA floating around in their blood after delivery too apparently.

yea that's how they tell the gender. If they find Y chromosome matter then you know it's a boy. No y chromosomal matter its a girl.
