bouncer vs. swing
posted 30th Nov
I'm planning on getting a bouncer for my daughter but i was wondering if i should get a swing too? I don't want to waste money on buying both if i don't need to. Did you buy/use both?

With our first, we didn't think she'd be interested in a bouncer so we had a swing for her...and she loved it.
Now with Asher, we figured he'd like a bouncer that vibrated, so he has a swing and a vibrating bouncer and he likes both.

We used a swing for both and never used a bouncer.

Which type of bouncer do you mean?
If you mean the ones used for infants, you can get those very cheaply, I would do both - you can never predict which one baby will prefer. Or just go with the bouncer and only buy a swing if she hates it.

I got both but the swing was a gift. My son HATED his bouncer and loved that swing.

my daughter hated the boucer thing LOVED the swing. Was the only place she would nap till she was around 14 months old and it just would not swing her anymore. I even had to trade up and get a bigger swing when she was 9 months old.

We had both and we used them equally. Ds liked the bouncer better till about 3 months and then he preferred the swing. He slept great in not for nap time. Maybe find a used bouncer since they don't use them as long. So you can have both without wasting a bunch of money.

We had both for all 3 kids and my older 2 liked the swing for about a month or so but my youngest hated it. All 3 of them, especially my youngest(11 months) practically lived in the bouncer. I love it because I have severe vertigo and can't rock my kids unless they are in it and I do it with my foot or hand. Any rocking motion or any other motion that can cause you to be dizzy makes me severely nauseous to the point I vomit or pass out with the Vertigo. It sucks so the bouncer is a lifesaver.

we just had a bouncer and it was great! it played music and vibrated... put baby to sleep every time. and it was easily portable so I could take it in the bathroom with me so I could shower without leaving baby alone.

We had the bouncer that went with our playpen and high chair and then we also had a swing. We are buying a new swing for this one that matches everything else because I'm weird. But he was able to use the swing longer than the bouncer which is why we had both. The bouncer was small and easier to take with us to other people's houses but I think it only held like 10 pounds where as the swing held up to 25. He loved both but slept better in the swing. I also liked the swing because it had a tray and I could sit toys on it for him and he could play in it even if it wasn't swinging.

I use the swing religiously. Used it with my daughter, and the swing was battery-operated.
This time I got a swing with an AC Adapter. I use it every single night and have used it pretty much since our son was born.
The bouncer is nice for when I'm taking a shower or when we co-bathe. I found a cheapo one at a yard sale for $5. It gets the job done.
Splurge on a good swing. I swaddle, then stick baby in swing and he will sleep for like 5 hours straight.

Both my LOs liked their bouncer. I think DD would have liked her swing if DS hadn't always tried to push her really fast in it lol.
I think Fisher Price makes a swing/bouncer combo. I saw it at BabiesRus. It was relatively cheap too.
