Need dress ideas for 2-3 weeks postpartum

posted 30th Nov
OK, so I'm thinking WAY ahead here, and I know some ladies will say I am insane for doing what I am planning to do, but here is the issue:

I will (most likely) be attending my little sister's wedding just a few week after having baby number 2 in June. My firstborn will probably be staying in NY with my MIL and my husband, the newborn and I will be driving to PA for the ceremony/reception and one night in a hotel. I am going to have the little one in a sling the whole time, and I barely know anyone who will be in attendance, so I am not concerned about people wanting to touch/hold the baby (i.e. spreading germs).

My only questions is WTF DO I WEAR?? I know I am going to still look 5ish months pregnant and be all floppy, so I need to find something flattering, plus I will likely tear again and get stitched, so I will want to be as comfortable as possible. But I do want to wear something appropriate for a very dressy church/catering hall Summer wedding. Ahh! Need ideas. Please help. If you have any pictures of you or someone else in a nice dress shortly after giving birth, please share!! TIA

I took DS to the coast as a 3 day old.. I wore my "larger" pre pregnancy pants and my maternity tops. Kept him in a front pack, and my spanxs

Most of what I own is already empire waist, so that where I was leaning, but I was afraid it would just accentuate the "extra baggage" and make be look even more pregnant. What about something a little more structured but with some kind of detailing about the middle and bottom. Plus I think something that shows off the girls (without being slutty) will distract from the belly...

I second the spanx suggestion! Also, if you plan on breastfeeding, find yourself a GOOD supportive nursing bra that would look find underneath a dress.

breast feeding or not, dont forget to wear nursing pads, even if you don't breast feed your milk will come and go at random times for a month or so. i learned the hard way =/

Thank you for this suggestion! I only have more relaxed and super-cheap bras from last time breastfeeding.

Quite formal. Tuxes for all the guys in the wedding, very glamorous decor, and my mom and stepdad (who we will be with the whole time) are both dressing very fancy. These are the two dresses I am currently eyeing...

I should add though, I am not likely to wear a long dress or ball grown, because a) I don't like them and never do, and b) the bridesmaids are in knee-length dresses, so I think it's acceptable

YW! I am nursing right now (I'm also about 4 weeks PP too) and I love this bra:

It's supportive and it's very pretty.
