hand sucking

So my 9 week old sucks on her hand a lot then gets upset, I thought it meant hunger but doesn't want her bottle if I offer it. What else could it mean?

Believe it or not, it could be teething. My 8 weeker does the same )with drooling) and so did her 2 brothers...and they cut their first teeth at 4 months.

Mine does the same! He's two months today. He gnaws on his fingers, and will bring mine up to his mouth. hehe

My 8 week old has been doing the same. She also has been trying to put things in her mouth and drooling a lot. I'm thinking she's starting teething early.

She does drool like crazy. I will offer her binky but it gets spat out and in goes hand. She almost rips it out to make room for her hand

My 4.5 mo old has always preferred her hand to a bink..

My son always sucked and gnawed on his hands and fingers all the time and he cut his first teeth at about 4 and a half months. He had all of them except his 2 year molars by 13 months. He used to like it when I would rub his gums with my finger and apply a small amount of pressure. He has always been a thumb sucker and hates pacis so I assume when he was doing it and wasn't hungry that it was his gums.

It would be my bet her mouth hurts. Try freezing a wet wash cloth and letting her chew on that? I used to hold our son and let him chew on a damp, frozen or cold wash rag while he laid with me and he enjoyed it a lot. I think partially because he liked the texture.
