changing diapers

posted 30th Nov
My dh always fights me about changing diapers...he will say its only been one pee or there's not that much in it we don't need to change it yet..this frustrates me beyond belief I feel if I know its needing changed you change it not let him sit in his pee...how do you feel? He likes to say we don't have the money to change it every time he goes..I feel just because we have low income we still need to change him its our fault we are low on money not his. Anyone elses so do this?

As long as our daughter hasnt drench her diaper (if shes only peed a little) or pooped I wont change it but she at the point where she will take her diaper off herself if she is uncomfortable in it.

I've never changed a diaper for 1 pee unless is a new newborn. I work at the hospital in l&d and unless the baby is complaining or has a bm. We only change diapers every 3 hours.

Holy hell. That baby needs to be changed when he's wet. It doesn't matter if it's a little or he soaked through. That is so sad. I'm sorry he thinks this way. It would be 110% unacceptable to me and it makes me feel so sad even thinking about it.

Damn.

I wait until the diaper is a bit filled or if she poops but thats because shes 14 months whenshe was a new born I did that butbI learned the hard way she would pee on us. Now she pees way to much I'm not going to change a diaper every time she pees that's a waste of diapers

I wouldn't change it every single pee, that's a waste IMO.
When DS was first born I'd change it all the time I was super paranoid, but know I just kinda know when he's wet and needs changing. Maybe change it every 2-3 hours unless he's had a BM.

I guess I'm different. I wouldn't want to sit in pee (in any amount) so naturally I feel the same for my kids.

They're designed to keep them dry. I use cloth as well, it keeps DS so dry I have to feel inside the pocket to actually see if he's wet as the fleece is dry.
I change it every 2-3 hours and he has never had a rash, even when I was using disposables.

They aren't sitting in pee, because diapers are made to hold pee and feel dry to baby. That's what the whole science behind them is about.

This is exactly what i do with my son,he doesn't get upset over 1 pee. After about 3 pee's i'm guessing that's when he lets me know he needs to be changed.

I get that. My Son was a super soaker so it seemed one pee sometimes did him in and I could smell the pee and feel the warmth too.

I don't change him ALL the time, just when I know he is wet. Like when he wakes from sleeping, or the diaper looks wet...I know I don't char get it right after every pee just when I know he should need one...with my so he can know the diaper is wet even after waking up and will just say oh he can wait til he pees again..I won't do that if it needs changing I change it..but it is a few hours between each change.

Thanks for that resource..we can afford diapers, he is just strange with money...some things he is willing to "waste" money on in my opinion other things he will freak and say we can't afford like using the microwave. Lol
