I'm not against either of the options. We both agreed to have our son circumcised. It was mainly up to daddy seeing as he has the penis,i just agreed. I would have been fine with either options.

I was initially for circumcision thanks to all the pro and neg circumcision information floating around. SO was against circumcision because he wasn't, his dad wasn't etc family tradition.
I changed my mind the second he was born. I filled out yes in my paperwork and the nurse asked to double check when they took him for his bath if it was okay to circumcise him then and I said don't worry about it, I changed my mind. As soon as I saw him I couldn't fathom them doing it. So in the end I had the final say but I went with SOs choice. Im happy with it.

That being said, I fully support moms who choose to circ and moms who choose not to circ, as long as they ARE educated as to the risks and benefits of each decision. http://www.aap.org/en-us/about-the-aap/aap-press-room/Pages/Newborn-Male-Circumcision.aspx?nfstatus=401&nftoken=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000&nfstatusdescription=ERROR%3a+No+local+token"

Those "facts" and "statistics" only seem to be for Americans... Like I said... The rest of the world doesn't seem to have as many penis issues that Americans have.

Wasn't trying to pick apart anything. Their recommendation is NOT to circ - only that benefits outweigh risks. I didn't pick apart anything - I was more thorough....the rest of what I wrote was to the OP. And I still don't see how it's any change from what they said before.

And you will not educate me on anything ot do with this, I can promise you that. I can't even begin to tell you how many obsessive hours I spent researching it because I wanted to be sure. I've looked into the flaws in the African research study that was ended early & not done to completion. Are you ware the men who got circs were not sexually active for aperiod of approx 2 months & received counselling on safe sex practices & received condoms? Far from convincing that the circ had anythign to do with it - but it sure seems the researchers were desperate for teh "right" result.

So anyone who circs can go ahead & distrust God or nature or whatever you believe in. *I* personally think that when all is said & done the fact is we aren't born with extra defective body parts as standard issue.

I also think if you've never looked into the sale of infant foreskin for medical & cosmetic procedures (and uber expensive prescription wrinkle creams) you really ought to - because you might better have some idea why they'd promote it & who might be in a position to benefit if more infant foreskins are made available.

I've heard that about the foreskins being used in beauty products. That's smurfing disgusting. Yet another reason no son of mine will ever be cut.

I haven't heard that. But I do know they use road kill. My dad used to work for the state animal control and he's pick up the roadkill and take it to the rendering plants.

Yeah, one big reason I don't wear makeup but a few times a year.

I don't think it should be up to the mother or father. Rather, it's elective, so if they both don't agree then it shouldn't be done. To me it's like having the ears pierced. If the parents don't BOTH agree to it then it should not be done. It's an unnecessary and elective procedure, so if either parent is opposed then it shouldn't be done.

It can be done later, but it can never be undone. Yes, I know there are ways to "regrow" a foreskin, but it will NEVER be the same as that was lost. Thus, it makes sense that it not be done unless both parents agree.

There's all sorts of nasty stuff in it. Like red pigments are done a lot by grinding up a specific beetle that provides that red.

That's why I can't eat red velvet cake. I remember learning that the red dye was made out of ground up beetles. *gag*
