Husband and C-Section.

posted 30th Nov
My husband has never seen a c-section performed. This being my third, I feel like a seasoned pro, haha. But my poor hubby doesn't really know exactly what to expect. He keeps asking me questions about different aspects of it. Is there anything not too graphic that he can read or watch that will help prepare him for the procedure?

On second thought...I wouldn't mind some graphic material too. He thinks he can handle it like a champ, but he gets queasy watching surgical procedures on NatGeo

I'm not sure, have you checked like, youtube for any videos?
I'll be having my 3rd c-section, it'll be dad's 2nd, the first he was in the room, but stayed by head/talking to me/etc, so he didn't actually see any of it being done.

I'm in the same situation. This will be my second c section, my DH missed the first because he was deployed. I am nervous that he wont be able to handle it, but he acts as if it's no big deal and he'll just chill while it's all happening. I think he'll be a total wuss, and to be honest, I need him to act as if it's not bothering him (if it does), because I will be freaking out inside, again.

That's how I feel. Plus from my last two I still remember the smell of burning flesh filling the operating room from them burning off blood vessels and smurf. And my doctors pulled me up off the operating table while pulling my daughters out. I don't know how he's gonna handle all of that

OT, but my brother lives in Williamsport with his family! Haha. We lived in Walkersville, outside of Frederick, until 2000.

I have thought about that, but I wasn't too sure how graphic youtube videos can get. I'll have to wait to show him when we go to the library. Do they show the good stuff he'll be trying to see by peeking over the curtain?

I always request a low curtain. If it's too high over me, I start panicking so he'll be able to see over it. My best friend easily saw everything with my first, and my mum damn near passed out watching them put some intestine (or something, can't remember now) on the table next to my leg

That's the part that freaked me SO out with his first son. He said" her intestines and "Something" else they just set it on top of her, and just pulled him out. It was weird.. :

My best friend failed to mention any of that to me, but man my mum couldn't let it go. She was whispering in my ear "Don't freak out, but they're putting organs next to your leg." I just laughed. I already knew they do that, haha.

Yeah! The whole experience the first time was terrible for me. I lost so much blood. My mom was such a big support, I hope he is too!

We recently moved here because DH got stationed out here with the Navy. It's definitely a change from Southern California where I had always lived.

Wow I'd be like "Well mom that's what the curtains for so I would freak out. THANKS" lol

My husband said they took some intestine out and put it on my upper stomach....and pulled our daughter out with one hand by the head (like palming a basketball) .. He def got over his fear of her breaking if her held her!!!!! Ask your Dr if they have a class ...I know our Naval Hospital has a graphic video of both c-sections and vaginal births they show to help prepare!!!..... Its funny to watch a group of grown Marines gagging and cringing looking at there wife's in horror while watching the video;p
