Yeast rash help

posted 30th Nov
DD has had a yeast rash since two days before Halloween. When it first presented I thought it was a regular rash (we cloth diaper) and used some diaper ointment. When it didn't go away I thought it might be from a build up on the diapers so I stripped all the diapers. At 6 days with her having the rash her pedi suggested an OTC yeast cream. Finally at 13 days with it her pedi prescribed Nystatin Cream. It has been two tubes and 11 days and her rash is still there.

Her diet hasn't changed, she is on lactose free milk and I'm just running out of ideas. I am going to call her pedi on Monday and get her in as soon as I can, but I was wondering if any of you mommies had any ideas or advice.

Maybe they need to give her an antibiotic for this one? Maybe ask her pedi about that?

Benadryl, might be a reaction mixing with the yeast? They'll probably give an oral form of the cream instead. My daughter had one and it was hell to get rid of.   I felt like a horrible mom, hopefully things get better for you guys. Also do some oatmeal baths to soothe until you can see the doctor?

Can urgent care prescribe antibiotics? I just called her pedi & she wont take her in until December 27th.

I'm not sure. I don't have an urgent care around her :/ Why on earth can't she get her in sooner?! Isn't there another Pedi on call at her office that could see her?

If it's yeast antibiotics won't help. You need antifungals. Does she get enough naked time to air it out? Have you tried switching to disposables temporarily to see if maybe that'll help?

When DD had hers I took her to immediate care cause her dr. couldn't see her for three weeks.

Yes we did the vinegar to strip the diapers. And I've never heard of using coconut oil. What does this do?

We 'sposie her at night time so it will pull the moister away from her. We unfortunately have carpet so she is usually in some sort of bottoms but after bath time she runs around naked for about an hour because she keeps her bathrobe on.

It's a natural healer/moisturizer. It's CD safe too. Not many things for rash are ok to use with CD.

Her pedi is through medical so it's one pedi per office unfortunately. I'm going to call the urgent care and see if they can prescribe the medication there. Because a month of the same rash is getting ridiculous. Especially since her pedi seems not to rushed to get her in the office any sooner.

yeah, that sounds pretty rough. I'd try some of the other remedies these ladies are telling ya about and try to get her in else where. It has to be irritating for that poor baby. My son kept getting a yeast infection too but I finally got it to go away about two or three weeks ago. I hope you get it cleared up soon though!
