Drink water instead of the drink you mentioned. Add a lemon to your water. The diet type sodas are not better for you health wise & do more damage to your body than regular sodas. If you like tea, drink it with no sugar or use a small amount of natural sweetners, like evaporated cane juice, sweet leaf stevia, raw honey or even molasses.

Yoga would be good and I'd walk as much as possible.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone!!!!

Is the Dr Pepper Ten considered diet?
I can deal with cutting back the diet on the tea....I don't like it anyway. I just thought it was better for me than the regular.
I only drink the Dr Pepper once, maybe twice, a day. I get really bad headaches and the caffeine helps them stay away....but I can try to get myself to where I don't need it.

I can't afford to do weight watchers or anything extra right now...
I can only really do exercise at home and change my diet.
I was using myfitnesspal.com before when I was trying to watch what I ate, but I stopped using it, I could start using that again.
When DH gets his new job starting in Jan. we'll be able to go to the gym they have in their warehouse for $3/mo. So maybe that will help me.

Sorry, I'm rambling...just trying to take in everything. lol

I have done weight watchers, and I'm a HUGE fan of that program. Why? Because it really gets you eating right. It's about making good food choices in moderation. It's gotten me to think about what type of food I'm putting into my body, so you do become accustomed to eating well. I think as a start for a LOT of people, it can be a really good choice.

But yes, at the end of the day you have to just learn to eat well and move more. I have fibromyalgia so I have to be careful with exercise. I got a fitbit, so now I walk in place a lot, or do the stairs outside of my apartment, to get small bits of exercise in so I don't overdue it. It's all about finding what works for you and then really committing to it!

This! Room temp would also be good & help with digestion.

For sure! I'd take a few bites of things all day and didn't realize just how much it added up!

Also, you're 100% right about the food log. One of the things I realized in doing it was that I didn't tolerate gluten so well. Without logging food and how I felt I might not have made the connection.

Yeah, that is diet still. It's only 10 calories instead of the 100 and something it would normally be.

*IF* you were interesting in weight watchers, you can do a search online and find the calculators and everything to do it for free. It's just assigning a point value based on the nutritional facts, so you can do it without spending a penny. I'm not telling you to do it, just saying that if you were wanting to just do a search online and you'll find everything you need for free.

1 soda a day can make you hold on to excessive weight. It is a 'diet' soda and they have marketed it toward men. The high fructose corn syrup in the drink basically messes with hormones/enzymes in your body which make you crave the product and consume more of it, as well as have high level of toxins which linger in your midsection.

Weight Watchers is kinda "different", in the way I think about it. They actually TEACH you the tools you need for the lifestyle change you are talking about. Especially to get going in the right direction, Weight Watchers would be my choice.

The point values and calorie counting and exchange rates for certain foods are wonderful tools, to be used, always.

Yeah, that's for sure what it did for me. And the newer system they have actually does points based on fat/fiber/protein/carbs. That is great because things with higher fiber/protein will be lower in points and fill you up more. This keeps people from just trying to be low calorie. Also, veggies and fruits are essentially free, so you learn to snack on them.

I think it's a great learning tool if you've never really evaluated your food choices. If you really don't know what to eat, it's a really good guide to get you to figure out what you should eat. I don't think it's realistic for people to do it forever, but it's a great first step.

Well poo...Ok then. Guess I should drop it completely.

I didn't know you could do that with weight watchers....I'll have to look it up.   Thank you!

No problem! If you ever have any questions feel free to PM me! I've done weight watcheres twice now. Both times a lot quite a lot of weight. I'm not doing sort of unofficial weight watchers. I don't always track, but I still calculate points and sort of tally it in my head as I'm eating to help me make better choices.

Also, the headaches can be caffeine withdrawal. Try some tea sweetened with honey to give you some of the caffeine without all the fake sugars.

Just regular tea? Or should it be like chamomile or something?
I'm sorry for all of the questions...lol

Green tea is healthiest I think, but anything that has caffeine will help with the headaches so you can wean off of it.
