Don't clean up? Toys get taken away. They have to earn them back in our house by either good behavior or extra "jobs". They don't want to earn them back? They get donated promptly.

I literally start picking up toys and putting them in the trash. If you cannot be responsible to keep your room clean obviously you need less toys.

How old? Tell them if they dont clean up they wont play with their toys again or that you will pick them up and throw them away. Works like a charm.

If they won't pick them up you will and they won't get them back for X amount of time. A few hours a day, whatever. I usually only have to pick up one thing and take it away before DS picks the rest of the stuff up himself.

I make it a game. We put on barney the old episodes when they played the pick up game and my kids just do it to.

I pulled out a trash bag and started putting her toys in it. Told her if she didn't want to clean up, she didn't need all the toys in the first place.
She got up real quick to clean up

idk, my son will help clean up then in the middle of us cleaning he'll just stop and throw smurf all over!..I chalk that up to him being almost 3.

and that reminds me of something that happened yesterday at the store..I was carrying him to the bathroom and kinda running because he just kept saying "I gotta poop" and then we FINALLY get to the bathroom which seemed to take forever to get to and he looks at me and goes "NO!" turns around RUNS OFF and starts yelling "GRANDMA, HELP ME!!!"..I looked like I was trying to kidnap my own child!..I had to push through people to finally get to him..it was ridiculous...

4 and 2, but my 4 year old has delays and is on track with my 2 year old.. sooo I feel like its hard to do that stuff to her and throw away her toys when i feel like she doesnt "get it" all the way. I dont want that to be an excuse but its obvious she is slow...but still my 2 year old will clean up and just do it, we sing the clean up song ang get it over with.. she will not... refuses to

I just ask who wants to be the best Helper? Who is going to help me get this place cleaned up and be Mom's Best Helper? They usually want to compete for my affections so it still works, though they are young it may wear off eventually. I still help clean though, I guess I'm just hoping that eventually they will do it themselves.

They are still small especially if you say one of them have delays be extra patient with her. Make it a game and maybe reward her with a sticker or something. Reward both of them.
