Besides just being generally lazy, I think there's an apathy that makes us seem lazy, too. Watch the television, get walked on by the government, buy what you're told, make yourself feel political by paying attention to the soap opera drama that is our joke of a political scene.IT's all okay because the X factor comes on tonight and it's pizza night. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I don't think we're the only country like that, but we're definitely an easy target. Low hanging fruit, if you will.

I would also take it a step further that even though more people are going to college, America has become intellectually lazy. Fewer people are using libraries for books, but instead for movies. Americans don't want to learn a second language and feel as though everyone, even people in foreign countries should speak English.

I can see why Americans have a bad rep, but I think we are judged way more harshly than other nations, especially for a nation that really has that "I get mine, you get yours" mentality.

Definitely. People here are out walking where they need to go in the pouring rain, freezing cold, etc. it's just a way of life here and not something most do in the us.

America isn't judged that harshly.
What do you think about when you hear about china? Most people think of people who skin anals alive, will eat any meat, infidelity, messed up government, no regard for human life and the list goes on.
Personally I would rather people assume I was fat rather than assume the above info on china.

Oh crap I would have to look it up. I am sorry, I am not trying to be an ass. It says right on the can the dangers and how much not to drink etc. My son use to drink Monster all the time, I chewed his ass and told him about the dangers. He didn;t quit drinking them until he got a cavity LOL..I understand the parents are hurting but at 14 they do know how to read and understand

I walk now...here. But in TX? Hell no...for a couple reasons. It was so hot and everything was so spread out.

That was gonna be my next thought. In a country with so many opportunities, we have what, 24, 25% of the population with so much as a Bachelor's degree. As a whole, we are piss poor in the areas of math and science, especially. We've got a scarily high number of people willing to dismiss science (of all kinds) because they feel it somehow contradicts their religious beliefs--and they dismiss it without having so much as a basic grasp of even the most rudimentary concepts.

And of course, why would anyone bother with things that might seem "hard" or "useless" (can't tell you how many times I've heard algebra referred to as such) when we've got people making insane amounts of money by being stupid? Kardashians, Honey Boo Boo, Snooki, et al. We're force fed this idea that you don't have to be smart, you don't have to strive, because look at all the people on the TV gettin' rich, by golly!

It's the new American dream.
