re: Flashing Lights in my peripheral vision?

posted 30th Nov
I've had one occular migraine, where I got flashing lights in my eye, then the headache started. It's fairly normal. But, like these other girls are saying, it may be more serious if it's a pregnancy issue. At least call your OB.

Just called my OB's office, waiting a call back from my doctor.

My blood pressure has always been more on the low end if not too low, i am just very curious now what this might be. Just hanging out at home waiting for the doctor's call.

This!

I've had occular/opthalmic migraines for years. They're not usually too painful, and go away within about 20 minutes. If it lasts any longer than that, it could be a detached retina, or like the other ladies said, high blood pressure or dehydration.

I wish mine only lasted that long...mine last hours and I never have high blood pressure or dehydration. I think its person to person.

The flashing lights for me only lasted 30 minutes but the headache/migraine lasted longer. I say headache because it really wasn't that bad, as I'd imagine a migraine to be.

I get ocular migraines too. I'm usually lucky enough that I don't get the headache along with them, just the lights in my vision.

I didn't realize it was so common! Everyone always looks at me funny when I tell them I'm having a "migraine" but it doesn't really hurt LOL! My blood pressure has always been on the low side myself, and that's what the doctor said is the most likely cause. I guess it's nothing to really worry about, but I get them a couple times a month, usually at work. Since I work on a computer all day, it's quite a pain in the ass because I can only see part of the sentence that I'm reading, and they sometimes make me feel nauseous.

I find this video shows a pretty good example of what I experience, although I find mine to always happen in the lower right side of my peripheral vision instead of the center:

My bp is usually about 100/65....until I hit 32 weeks and found my bp suddenly shot up to 180/100 and my proteinurea was sky high. Pre-e...it can come on suddenly for no apparent reason.

I find the migraine comments odd because when I get a migraine, which is rare for me, there is no way in hell I could be sitting at a computer...I'm in bed, lights out, no movement, no sound and wishing to be dead.

It usually happens before the migraine.
