Hi, ladies!

I love this thread. I do not have dreads but, I've seriously contemplated them a lot. I've even been on the verge of buying a dreading kit..Since having LO my hair is on the back burner. Sometimes I don't brush my hair all week, and I'll take my hair down and it almost looks dreaded. I'm over my hair. I'm on a "want" kick right now. I would absolutely love dreads but, I'm really nervous to start...I think its the commitment of them..or I'm scared they won't look good. I wish I could have a guarantee my dreads would look dope.

I hope its okay to hang out and watch your journeys, you may inspire me. You all are beautiful with gorgeous locks.

Right?! Dude, I've wanted them for so long and have just held back. I thought about having my brother do a couple to see how I liked them, but just never gotten around to it.

But yeah, these mamas have some amazing hair for sure! Beautiful!

The kits are definitely a waste of money. Just get a metal comb! I don't use any waxes or anything because they can cause issues.

The thing about dreads is they won't look dope until they mature, and that takes a lot of time. They're totally worth it though.

Okay ladies, I have a question.
Is there any possibility I'd be able to do the "victory rolls" hairstyle with my dreads?
My hairs not so long so IDK how possible it'd be.

This is my hair:

I thought about just doing it with my bangs that I have straight, and maybe an updo with the dreads, but IDK if my hair is thick enough in my bangs to stay up in a roll.

I really wanna try this out!

I have no idea, but you should try it and let me know! That would be so sexy!

Ladies I need your help. I'm trying to dread DHs hair but in the back it's really short.
These are how short the sections on the back are

Is there ANYTHING that I can do to get those short sections to lock up?

Are you back combing? Once you get the knots in, palm roll the smurf out of them. Daily for a while. If they slip out I'd probably try a locking gel that will wash out next time you wash his hair. I found one at Fred Meyer that I used for a wedding once that smelled like mangos lol.
It is NOT a wax, it's made to wash out.

He looks ridiculous right now

When it was still sectioned:

All done. They're all freaking over the place lol. I tried telling him his hair would stick up because of the length but he didn't care   He was growing it out anyway so they'll start to lay down once it grows out

Oh and I made him a hat that he can wear at work (he works in a factory so they don't mind hats)

So, I decided to go for the more natural looking dreads since my hair locks well on it's own, and they're nowhere near mature, but I was really starting to dig them and basically just had everyone in my other thread tell me they looked like complete smurf lol. So now I'm bummed.

Here's two of them:

Of course they look like smurf, they're brand new!
Don't let people who know nothing about dreads get you down lol. There's more to it than people know.

Haha, yeah, my butthurt faded a little bit ago

The one chick was like "Those look gross and nappy. My mom dreaded a white guy's hair in 6 hours and it looked awesome and neat."

I laughed at nappy. Uh, dreads are knotted hair, of course it's going to look nappy at first
And I'd never PAY to get dreads done. If I didn't want messy ones, I'd just do them myself with a comb. lolol
