Lol. I think we can all agree that workers' rights in America are awful. But you can be extreme in both directions: giving too little, and giving too much.

Yes. is it the same as 52 weeks or lower I cant remeber? lol but you are right, cause we have rights her and mothers have the right to take the time off when having a baby, actually dad can take unpaid or paid parental leave instead of mom too, or it can be split in half and be shared time off, 6 months dad 6 months mom. etc....

right and it's not like this happened overnight, it took decades to get our rights in place because of people pushing government. I mean we are basically in control of what happens, I know Harper and his cronies have been doing things that aren't very agreeable but the great thing is that people have the power to change things if they really want to.

Nothing. Who cares if they do? I certainly don't. It's their choice to use the system we have in place... if some mother wants to pop out kids every year til her uterus dries up that is her choice, free country.

oh but they wouldn't qualify for the EI if they don't work, but I'm sure they could get on OW. (welfare)

They don't spend nearly 1/2 a trillion dollars on a bloated military budget, which probably frees up some cash :-P.

Its not like that tho for EI PREMIUM you have to accumulated so many hours to access it when its needed. For me to get my leave you needed 600 hrs for the past yr. Which I worked way more then that.

Welfare different story. But on welfare to get it you need to be looking for employment and submit everywhere you have applied to or be already working.

Lucky for you then! Must suck paying for all those millions on food stamps though eh?
I think that is part of the benefits of living in a less populated country though, not paying for as many dependants. But unlike some people I don't judge people needing assistance.

American society is centered around the achievements on the individual which is why we don't adopt the broader views of socialism. It has it's good points, and it's bad points.

Which is too bad. I was always taught that cooperation is the key to success.
